LA Press Club includes blogging in awards

The LA Press Club have revised the Southern California Journalist Awards to recognise online media and bloggers this year, with the following categories added:
I1. ONLINE – NEWS, FEATURES OR SERIES
An article originally written for, and first published on, the Internet.
I2. ONLINE COLUMN/COMMENTARY/CRITICISM
One person’s point of view on any subject originally published on the Internet.
I3. DESIGN AND LAYOUT
Best website design – taking into account look as well as accessibility and user friendliness.
I4. WEBLOG
Submit three consecutive days worth of posts.

Nominees/ Nominations must have been produced during 2004 by national or international correspondents
or freelancers based in Southern California who work for outlets not based in Los Angeles (non-U.S. outlets for international correspondents and freelancers).

A sure sign of the growing acceptance of blogging as a part of the world of journalism.
