NBC Chief considers Blogs for News Readers

US Television network NBC is considering creating blogs for its news readers as part of a plan to save network news.

NBC Universal Television Group President Jeff Zucker told Reuters that entering the world of blogs might be one way television networks could keep their grip on viewers who increasingly use the Internet for news. He went on to say that he was currently considering a blog for evening news reader Brian Williams and could envision a similar blog for Katie Couric, the co-host of NBC’s “Today” show.

The problem with most corporate blogs is that they’re sanitised to the point of becoming boring. It will be a real challenge for NBC to create a blog that reflects the newsreader’s personality but still enables them to have on-air credibility. I wouldn’t like to be the guinea pig.
