Boing Boing wins Webby Award for best Blog

The winners of the 9th Annual Webby Awards have been announced today with Boing Boing winning a Webby for the best blog of the year.

In winning the award, the first time the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences has including blogging as a seperate category, Boing Boing beat out other blogs including Hicksdesign, The Snowsuit Effort WorldChanging and strangely non-blogging site Flickr.

Photo sharing site and blogosphere favourite Flickr did not miss out altogether though, with Flickr’s founders, Caterina Fake and Stewart Butterfield, winning a Webby Award for best breakout of the Year.

The awards will be presented in New York City June 6.
