Bloglines offline??

Bloglines appears to be totally offline, and possibly over some time, according to tests by the Blog Herald over the last 24 hours.

The site was uncontactable between 7am and 9am US EST and is not contactible again at 9pm US EST Friday.

Anyone else having problems?

Update 9am US EST Sat: I still cant get onto Bloglines, and a number of other sites including Slashdot, and yet I can access them using an anonymous proxy. My ISP tells me that there is a “Red Light” issue with a major provider in the United States that is causing problems for people here in Australia to access certain sites, which logic would mean that others in the US and the world for that matter may be affected. For example I can access Yahoo.com no problems, but others sites load but have problems with the ad load, for example Internetnews.com loads but the ads cause errors? anyone know anything more about this? Its been 24 hours without Bloglines and I’m getting desperate!

Update: 48 hours and I’m back in but only with some advice from Whirlpool here. Apparently there is a major Ruter problem with Sprint in the states that are blocking certain IP addresses. Follow the instructions to fix if your affected

I was having issues for a little while, except I got a message from the ‘Bloglines Plumber’, who told me:

    Hi,

I’m the Bloglines Plumber. We are currently doing scheduled maintenance. We expect to be back at 8Pm Pacific Time, Friday July 22. Bloglines will be all better when I’m done with it.

    Thanks,
    The Bloglines Plumber

Now its back online, and nothing seems to be infected. I have recently switched to Bloglines (from FeedDemon) and this was the first time this has happened for me personally.

    From Bloglines News:

Bloglines will be down this evening, July 22, 2005, starting at 7PM Pacific time. We will be upgrading one of the backend systems, as part of our continuing efforts to ensure that the Bloglines web site is always quick and responsive, even as we continue to grow rapidly. We expect the downtime to last approximately one hour.

Bloglines Plumber appears quite often recently. So I switched to NewsGatormy and found its headline display feature (in the location of NewsGator Web Edition) very useful, especially for bloggers.

It’s been shaky all day in the UK. I put the window down on the taskbar and get on with something else. After 10 minutes or so, I get the full page.

I’ve never been a fan of Bloglines – to me, it just seems so un-user friendly.

I moved to NewsGator Online and have never had a problem – and it’s much more pleasing to the eye (for one that spends many hours a day in front of a monitor this is a major consideration).
