Google Talk to launch: chat and VOIP client

Google is set to launch Google Talk Wednesday and Weblogs Inc supremo Jason Calacanis has already had a test run.

Calacanis writes that “Google Talk Rocks” and has shared his access to the new Google Talk client for testing to other Weblogs Inc sites, with Jordan Running at DownloadSquad posting a full review and screen shots as well.

The key features are naturally chat and VOIP telephony, although there appears to be no support for a call out feature as yet. Download Squad reports that Google is chatting with Skype, AOL and Yahoo about interoperability and is also exploring options on the SIP network used by Project Gizmo.

Update: the URL for Google Talk is now live at http://www.google.com/talk/. Looks like they’ve launched early.

One thing great about it is the quality of the VoIP. The best so far.
