Live Journalers indulging in referral spam?

You’ve seen spam on Blogger before but have you seen spam emanating out of Live Journal, the community blogging service owned by Six Apart?.

It might not be totally spam but when its using referral spam to make its mark onto the logs on the Blog Herald and its flogging T-Shirts its smells like spam and it looks like spam to me.

Introducing….LJ user groundbelow, or one of her friends who have sent 887 hits through to the Blog Herald from this post. Problem is, no matter how hard I try I cant find any links from the site to the Blog Herald. But what’s it all about Alfie you may well ask? Its got me beat, but groundbelow’s LJ site seems to be nothing more that a front for a really, really badly design shop titled “Buy My Stuff”.

Now whether this breaches section XVI (7) of the LJ Terms of Use (You agree to NOT use the Service to: Upload, post or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail,” “spam,” “chain letters,” “pyramid schemes,” or any other form of solicitation; ) or (16) (Engage in commercial activities within LiveJournal or on behalf of LiveJournal.com without prior approval. This includes, but is not limited to, the following activities: Displaying a banner that is designed to profit you or any other business or organization; and Displaying banners for services that provide cash or cash-equivalent prizes to users in exchange for hyperlinks to their web sites.) I’ll leave upto SixApart to consider, but can some one from SixApart please request that this user stop filling my server logs with referral crap. Thanx!
