Blogging is Not a Crime Campaign Launches

Nick over at Threadwatch has announced the launch of “Blogging in Not a Crime” campaign to help Aaron Wall from SEOBook in his fight against traffic power.

Writes Nick (repoduced with permission):
Blogging Is Not A Crime!
The short story is this: Aaron is being sued over comments left on his blog by his readers about a notoriously unsavoury company called Traffic Power, or 1p. Within the Search industry, these people are regarded as the lowest of the low, and if you dig through some of those Search results, or the links at the bottom of this post, you’ll find all the gory details. Suffice to say, they are considered theives and villains by the overwhelming majority of the Search Marketing community.

We don’t think it’s right, do you?

We feel this has to end here. There is far more at stake than a scummy company vs a blogger – this is about free speech on blogs, and the right for users to comment, without blog publishers having to fear lawsuits.

So, What Can YOU Do?

Donate to Aarons legal costs. You can start by giving him a few $$$’s to fight these people effectively.

Please put one of the banners on your blog to help spread the word!

(Editor: I’m fully supporting the campaign and you’ll be seeing a banner in the rotation across most Weblog Empire sites shortly. )

  • GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!

Donate to Aaron Wall’s legal fund? You must be kidding. Why so a spoiled little brat can rant and rage against things he doesn’t like. This is a sad and pathetic joke, in case it has escaped your attention there are people in New Orleans who are DYING, and could really use donations. Anyone who sent Aaron Wall any money should be ashamed of themselves, to support this and turn your back on people who are in real need is disgusting. Aarons right to bash a bunch of spammers, is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, If the Blogging Community want to rally behind something, raise money to help the people of New Orleans!

  • To be fair this is one post here at the Blog Herald and Im soliciting donations and missing persons details elsewhere. Secondly, you’ll find most people will be giving to the Hurricane Katrina appeal above this campaign, however just because of Hurrican Katrina are when then suppose to ignore a threat to the blogoshpere. Sorry, both are NOT incompatible in terms of appeals
