SUGGESTION TO RAISE MONEY!!!

Well I donâ€™t know to many facts about whatâ€™s going on in the gulf coast, I just know it will need our aid for months and maybe years to come.
**GETTING TO MY POINT** I thought of a great way to raise money for the gulf coast and itâ€™s people. HAVE THE CHILDREN of THE GULF COAST AFFECTED by THIS EVENT CREATE ART. Since most kids are stranded with their families with little to do, why not let them create some art whether it is a painting, drawing, macaroni sculptors, it really doesnâ€™t matter, just something. Then sell/auction these art works off across the nation. Whether it is through a special page on ebay, or a private internet site dedicated to this idea. Or every major city in the US could have a small section either selling these items, or just letting people know how they can purchase their own Katrina Relief Art Pieces. What ever is the most practical. Included with every art piece could be a letter of authenticity, that ensures that the purchasers money is being donated properly to the Red Cross or any other aid agency that would like to get involved. Also included could be the childs name age and home town.
I believe this is a great idea, which is why I took the time to write this. Maybe my suggestion idea can be used, just altered and tweaked, to benefit the gulf coast as much as possible.
I hope this idea reaches someone who has the power to either spread the word or has connection with the proper people to make this a reality. Every little bit helps!!!

Reading through the comments, I am in the same boat as many of you. I have no extra money to give, but I have clothing that I would like to donate to the victims of hurricane Katrina. Many baby/kids clothes. I would like to make sure they get to the victims. If anyone has more info, please let me know. Thanks.

I have lots of men’s business clothes to donate…they would be great for job interviews. However, the clothes were very costly when purchased and I worry that if I donate them to an agency, such as the Salvation Army, they may not be put to their best use.
Is there any way I can “adopt” someone or ones that would gain the most use out of these items?
I also have lots of baby items and some VERY nice furniture and again, would like to see it all put to the best use.
Please let me know if any of you have heard of a way to “adopt” a family that could best use my contributions

I would like for everyone to stop placeing blame on any and every agency. We can not do anything about the past but we should all try and fix the future of the Katrina Hurricane victims. God allow tragdey”s to to happen. To wake each and every one of us up and make us aware that none of us are doing what we are suppose to do to help one another.

I like many others have given about all of the $ i and my family can
afford. So now we are going to try a different approch to help support and raise funds for those in need. We are starting to try and Borrow funds from those that would truly like to help. You see we have a program that we have used for many years to help support our selves
and many other people. Our Plain is to Borrow funds from those that
would like to not only help themselves but also those in need. We will be paying a 4% apr yield for those that would like to join us and then
we will place these funds in the same place we use our on funds for.
The best part is this we already Know how and where to get returns of 10%to 15% apr yields with monthly payments on the funds we borrow. With the profits we can then set up a contiuios funding program for those in need for some time to come. The said part is this
for those of us that want to help we are stopped in our tracks because we are not NON-PROFIT organizations so there for no news Media or any goverment agency will not even listen . I know we tried. We are private educational consultants in Florida. our primaary goal is to help teach others how to make ends meet in a Nation Where we are pricing our children and the People of this Great Nation Out of Existance. Early Design in Raleigh has been a drop off spot for supplies and funds for hurricane victims. They have a contact in leadership at LSU and transportation. They shipped many boxes last week and they were delived over the weekend. I filled an SUV with new baby items. I was very moved to learn through an e-mail from someone at LSU that a stuffed animal I sent was delivered directly to a child. Everything was delivered. There are special items needed. I have also attached what I as a business person am doing and what everyone can do. I welcome more suggestions on opportunities to help

I am from Northern California, I have tried also to find organizations that will take clothing-both children and adult, and household goods to distribute to Katrina victims. It is frustrating. I have no more $ to give at this time but have collected a lot of “almost” new items. I will pay shipping…just tell me where!!!!

I have gobs of clothing, household items, toiletries, books, etc. I was going to donate to a local charity but I would rather give it to people who are in need in the south. I have read through messages and don’t really have an answer as to who will take the items. I am tapped out financially so other than blood this is the only way I know how to help. If anyone knows of a charity, etc. who is taking clothing, etc. for Katrina relief in the Sacramento area (Cameron Park) of California, please let me know.

As for me I’m not american i’m georgian,it’s a small country in coucasus under russia but now I’m in Mississippi state for one year.I’m exchange student and i’m here to study and meet new people,that katina hurikane hapend after 3 or 4 weeks after i arrived here and i’m so sorry to that people who died by it’s fault and also peope hwo are noe without family,tomorrow i’m going take clothes that i have and took from my country here,because i don’t care them i would be realyy happy to help that people who have no clothe and eben no plase to stay.

For New York City donations: I have read that the New York State Armory on E. 26th and Lexington will take clothing donations. There is no phone listing, so I don’t have any information. If anyone does, please e-mail me.

Humane Society of South Mississippi (228) 863-4394. Address: 13756 Washington Avenue Gulfport, Mississippi 39503. They were right in the path of Katrina. Doubt if any phones are working & probably no mail delivery. Website http://www.hssm.org isn’t finished so I couldn’t find a secure link to donate. But if there’s one animal rescue charity that needs the money, they do. I’m going to keep trying to contact them somehow. Noah’s Wish is another one, they are on the ground now in Slidell, LA with a field HQ helping animals stranded by the storm. Noahswish.org takes online donations. Looks like a good group. God bless.

We hear reports saying that Katrina victims need clothes. So many of us have clothes we would like to donate. But I have not found any national charities accepting clothing donations. Know any?

There are alot of RV’s not being used or in storage. If the Governemt used some state parks, there might be people willing to loan their RV’s to Katrina Victims.

This is not a suggestion of any donation, but I was wondering if anyone has had the idea of hiring any of the out-of-work N.O. citizens to help restore the city. Its going to take a lot of manpower and the citizens can benefit many fold: 1)earn money to send to families in shelter abroad; 2) boost self-esteem of locals who can proudly say they had a hand in rebuilding their own city; and 3)at least some locals will be allowed to stay in their own city–any worker will have to be housed, and fed by some outside means in any case. I think any job created in the clean-up of New Orleans should be first offered to a local citizen. While passing out food and water… how about a job application. I think it would boost morale more than anyone can imagine.

Probably already in mind although no comment as such. Why not use the many closed service camps and bases as accomodation for the many displace people. The basic facilities are there and they can be developed to assist these people over a long period. They could even be a source of work for those staying there. Just an idea but don’t know where else to send it

I KNOW VERY WELL OF ONE THAT IS LOCATED IN MY TOWN. IT IS THE “CONVOY OF HOPE” THE PRESIDENT OF CONVOY OF HOPE GOES TO MY CHURCH AND THEY SHOWED US A VIDEO LAST NIGHT OF THE CONVOY ALREADY GIVING OUT MUCH NEEDED SUPPLIES. OUR CHURCH HAS SENT A TEAM OF 30 MEDICAL WORKERS ALREADY THEY ARE IN NEW ORLEANS NOW. WE ARE HAVING A DRIVE AT OUR CHURCH FOR PEOPLE TO GO DOWN AND MY NIECE HUSBAND AND I ALL SIGNED UP TO GO HELP DO WHAT EVER WE NEED TO. ALSO WE WILL BE HOUSING ABOUT 300 TO 500 PEOPLE AT OUR CHURCH AS SOON AS THEY GET THERE. WE ALSO ARE TAKING A DRIVE OF FAMILIES WHO WILL OPEN THEIR HOMES TO PEOPLE. I have designed a TSHIRT for the Red Cross that is has been very successful at raising money that wouldn’t have been donated. Over the weekend the Raleigh, NC chapter rose $10,000 dollars at a booth with the tshirts. There were people who had already donated $1,000 who dropped another $100 down to show their support and wear a tshirt.

I am said to say i am an American … The way our President handled this storm and the people in need in our country is absured and apualing … 7 days to help people in need in the united stated is Crazy New Orleans looks like a 3rd world country not the US ..
