170,000 blogs in Finland: report

New figures from Media=blogi on the state of blogs in Finland. The newest figure shows 170,000 blogs in Finland with MSN Spaces being the most popular service with 133 000 blogs, some 78% of the market.

    Please note that that figure includes all created blogs (including splogs and “I’ll try anything once” -blogs); not actively updated blogs. The estimate on real existing blogs is around 20,000.

    I disagree with Janne Jalkanen. True, the figure 170 000 includes all created blogs. But based on pew internet studies and Live Journal stats, the estimate on real existing blogs is around 50 000 – 60 000. 17 000 blogs are very active updated at least weekly.
