New research from Advertising Age has found that US Blog readers “wasted” more than half a million work years reading blogs in 2005.

According to the research, 25 per cent of the US workforce (35 million people) spend an average of 3.5 hours a week at work reading blogs, adding up to the equivalent of 2.3 million jobs spent reading non-work blogs.

First workers were wasting time “surfing at work”, then it was “surfing for porn at work”, then it was “chatting at work”, then it was “Im’ing at work” and now it is “reading blogs at work”.

Are we still wasting time surfing, ogling, chating, IM’ing or is it all about blogging?
