The dean of Marquette’s School of Dentistry has overturned the suspension of a dental student who posted negative comments about students and professors on a personal blog, originally reported here at the Blog Herald on 6 Dec 2005.
JS Online reports that the blogger (Theodore Schrubbe) appealed the decision to William Lobb, the dean of the dental school, who determined, along with an advisory committee, that the punishment was too harsh.
According to Scott Taylor, Schrubbe’s attorney, the dental student received a letter from Lobb today informing him that the suspension was being repealed.
“The advisory committee recommended, and I concur, that suspension in this specific circumstance is not appropriate,� Taylor said, quoting the letter. “Consequently, I have decided to overturn the decision to suspend you from the school of dentistry.�
