Interviewing

August 10, 2006 | By Matt Craven | Filed Under Professional Blogging

Darren Rowse, the master of all things about Professional Blogging, has been running a great mini-series on Problogger focused around how to get and conduct interviews for your blog and how to be interviewed. Darren, as always, has a ton of great tips and advice from his personal experiences.

I’ve found this to be personally valuable in the last week as I’ve been lining up interviews for the Blog Herald Podcast - and then actually conducting those interviews..

While I’ve been interviewing folks via email for many months now - ever since we launched Blog Network Watch - I’ve learned a thing or two from these articles.. and learned that interviewing via audio for a podcast is even more difficult. Though tonight’s interview that we recorded with Aaron Brazell felt like the best one yet…

Darren’s best advice, in my mind, for being interviewed is his first one:

One of the biggest lessons I learned from my one TV interview was that unless you go into an interview (of any kind) with some sort of objective to achieve - it’s very easy to come out of them with little or no benefit.

What’s your personal brand going to be? How are you going to get it across?
