August 2006: Top Earners

It’s always interesting to see who is making money with what programs. With that in mind, here are our top earners across the BlogMedia, Inc. network for the month of August:

  • Private advertising sales – in fact, we’ve sold most of our advertising inventory in the next 90 days to one sponsor!
  • Text Link Ads – this is rapidly becoming our largest earner other than advertising sales. In fact, we’re earning significant income even off of our dormant blogs.
  • Google Adsense:
  • Azoogle Ads – not many folks in the blogosphere are taking advantage of Azoogle’s offers. I’ve had great luck with their programs, particulary on niche sites.
  • Amazon Associates – an old program, but one that is a constant earner for us. We’ve seen great success with this on our Mobile and Gadget sites.
  • AdReporting – another older program that isn’t often used on blogs but that provides a steady stream of income for us. AdReporting has lots of niche offers that might fit with some of your more specialized blogs.

  • Matt, how are Feedburner and BlogAds performing in comparison to the one’s you mentioned above ?

Just curious to know since FAN is working out to be a good option for me next to adsense.

  • Interesting, Matt.

Syntagma Media is quite similar, except that it earns most from offline publishing interests. Second are in-house negotiated advertising deals for Syntagma Web Network Magazine. Third TLAs. Fourth Adsense.

We don’t do any affiliate links at present but will be piling them on in time for Christmas, together with direct sales of selected items.

We don’t sell much in terms of BlogAds unfortunately. When we do some layout tweaks in the near future, we’ll move that ad block into a different position and I believe that will help us in that arena.

As far as FAN goes, we’re having good luck with that – the site ads perform far far better than the feed ads though – but it also depends on what they have running in our feed vs. our site. They keep getting better month by month.

I didn’t include consulting income, which is by far our single biggest earner.

We do alot of programming, strategy consulting, database work, and systems adminisration stuff… and we’re not cheap :)
