As he did for Audio and Image search, Niall Kennedy has posted a roundup of the current state of video search:

Video is booming and is not going away anytime soon. Video capabilities are becoming more common in mobile phones, our capture quality continues to increase, and easy-to-use editing tools on the desktop such as iMovie put better tools in the hands of the average user…

It’s a good long read with insights into what is coming. Once again, most of the innovation in this area seems to be driven by security firms looking to sell video analytics or related technologies to governmental agencies and private corporations with a need for such a thing.. that innovation will likely drive public video search as well…
