Arrington takes issue with the TechCrunch hate

Filed as News on November 1, 2006 8:21 am

And he’s not too happy about it either:

The last two weeks has brough a fresh wave of TechCrunch hate. I’ve learned to avoid responding to this stuff in the past because it just draws more attention to it, but tonight a reporter from the Syndey Morning Herald named Asher Moses emailed me and said “First off, great site - i’m a regular reader of yours. He then went on to say he’s working on a story about the “disclosure scrubbed at techcrunch debacle.

I like Techcrunch and I think they have some great sources. All I’ve ever asked is that a blogger actually look at what they’re writing about before they do - and that they are open about their conflicts of interest - and that they disclose if they are being paid to write something.

That’s it - nothing fancier than that.

Michael’s very successful - and that, in itself, pisses some people off.

It’s the same problem that plagues Slashdot… the editors don’t actually read the sources, then make themselves look incompetent.

I think that last line in your post is what’s it all about.

    I agree.

ADS ARE EVIL - that crowd is part of the problem :)

Yeah, it must be that. Frankly, I quit reading TechCrunch many months ago. I didn’t like the subject matter and I felt like too much time was spent hyping the blog.

I also have caught many statements (like yours) that Arrington is a real dick. I can’t say for sure, but he does seem to be in his “interviews”. Plus, he’s quite opinionated himself.

So what am I missing? Isn’t it true that TechCrunch does indeed SUCK the big baloney?
