[...] Journalism Jan 24 at 8:15 pm by Andy Merrett - I’ve had my disagreements with Keith Waterhouse over his perception and portrayal of bloggers, but I have to say I’ve gained a new sense of respect for the man for whom technology is a dirty word and an unfathomable mystery, yet who has had an amazing career and seen a multitude of changes in more traditional media.
These are all signs of insecure, and even incompetent journalists and writers. People that are really confident always welcome new mediums of expression. They want to hold on to this "elite" feeling and somehow cannot digest the fact that when, to get published they had to move heaven and earth, bloggers do it with great ease and have great fan followings too that these poor souls don't have :-).

[...] Blogging Jan 11 at 11:01 pm by J. Angelo Racoma - You’ve heard about the term, I’m sure. And we’ve published quite a few posts here on the Blog Herald citing the benefits (and pitfalls) of citizen journalism. This is perhaps one oft-cited reason why some personalities from the mainstream media abhor blogs and bloggers. It seems that bloggers–most of whom are not trained in the art and science of reportage–are now encroaching upon the territory of journalists. Sometimes, bloggers are even getting the upper hand. [...]

Of course Waterhouse is a pompous twit who fears what he doesn't understand. And for that matter, he looks rather like a lobster himself! The Daily Mail is the worst kind of newspaper- neither quality of opinion, nor juicy sleaze to speak of and it is they who don't have an original idea. Still publishing in nostalgia of poor old Maggie Thatcher and to a nation of shopkeepers. Oh and Keith, I acknowledge Napoleon for that last remark.
