The latest branch of WordPress version 2.1 (codenamed Ella) has just been released hours a go. This is a major upgrade to the current stable version with a
lot of user-interface and functionality improvements, on top of bug fixes.
Here are some of the nicest things we liked about the new upgrade:
- Autosave makes sure you never lose a post again.
- New tabbed editor allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and code editing instantly while writing a post.
- Completely redone visual editor also now includes spell checking.
- The upload manager lets you easily manage all your uploads pictures, video, and audio.
See complete specs of the upgrades here. Download your own copy of WordPress 2.1 here.
I just updated my Big Tech Blog site to WordPress 2.1, and it is just wow. It has so many new features and some realy nice less-known ones as well.
One quick one that I think is nice is that the editor will finally automatically detect safari (not sure about other browsers) and use a toned down editor, since safari has yet to add support for visual editing.
