There are different kinds of wikis. Has anyone seen a real good novel written this way?

[...] Kollaboratives Storytelling haben ja schon einige Netzkunst-Projekte aus der Ecke der Hyperfiction Literatur getestet, nun wird also auch Wiki als CMS-Plattform für solche Projekte üblich. The Blog Herald stellte gestern ein universitäres (Demontfort – dmu.ac.uk) Projekt vor, in dem sozusagen “alle Welt” an einem – oder auch gleichzeitig mehreren Romanen mit dem Titel “A Million Penguins” schreiben kann. Das mit den Pinguinen hat – im Gegensatz zur Vermutung vieler Open Source Freaks sicher etwas mit dem Sponsor, dem Verlagshaus Penguine zu tun und nicht mit Linux-Pinguien(en). Wie auch immer: Ich denke dabei als erstes an die alte Internetlegende von der geniösen Kreativität eines Kollektives: Es müssen sich nur genug Affen finden, die gelichzeitig auf Tastaturen einklopfen um die Wahrscheinlichkeit ein “Meisterwerk alla Shakespear” zu Stande zu bringen, bewegt sich von Null un aufhaltsam in Richtung Eins, wie wir aus dem inifinited monkey theorem wissen. Won’t work! The ego is usually part of being creative. Otherwise, we’d get bland writings. It’s bad as it is having two writers co-write a novel. What with three, four, a hundred?

The wiki idea is good, I think, but not for directly manipulating the manuscript simultaneously. Maybe people can serve as editors rather than authors.

Nos a The Blog Herald arról számolt be, hogy az angol illetőségű Penguin kiadó a leicesteri De Monfort Egyetemmel karöltve február elsején útjára bocsátotta azon kezdeményezését, amelynek keretében kiderítik, vajon megírható e egy (vagy ez esetben több) regény úgy, hogy a szerzők a világ minden tájáról beleszólhatnak illetve konkrétan beleírhatnak a műbe. A wiki szoftver segítségével készült “A Million Penguins” névre keresztelt webhellyel tehát arra keresik a választ, hogy a közösségi szerzőiség vajon létezik e, és ha igen, piacképes terméket képes e előállítani.
