[...] WordPress 2.1.2 Mandatory Upgrade: As was reported last week, the latest upgrade of WordPress was attacked from a server breach and everyone was incredibly helpful in spreading the world that a new replacement and updated (and better protected) version is now available. This is a mandatory full upgrade. Due to the nature of the new version, there are no upgrade only files available. Don’t wait. Do this now. [...]

[...] WordPress Mar 3, 2007 at 3:33 pm by Tony Hung - This is more of a public service announcement than anything else, as Lorelle already mentioned it in her fabulous “Wordpress Wednesdays” three days ago. But in case you weren’t aware, had forgotten, or didn’t read it (shame on you if you didn’t! :), it bears repeating: If you’re using Wordpress 2.1.1 please upgrade to Wordpress 2.1.2!
follow-up: That Firestats was easy to fix. I just attached it to another database within the database settings and now it's working fine.

Well, too late - I got the haircut anyway~

The posts aren't missing - they are all there - up to the point where a "MORE" tag would have been. For instance .. http://www.PetLvr.com/blog/2006/12/choosing-the-right-breed-of-dog-the-perfect-match-or-is-it .. What you see is exactly what appears in the edit/text field. except, instead of Read this Article you actually see the More URL Link that supposedly does that.
e.g. [a href="etcetc/#more-2297" class="more-link"](Read this article ...)

I've gone into my database and located this actual "post_content" field 2297 and it shows up the same way. There is nothing in excerpt or any other field. This particular post - half the article is gone. Others, it's like 80% gone.

I was using EVERMORE plugin prior to update, so they are mostly happening in the same spot where the more would be, except on those that I used the [--nevermore--] stmt to stop that. I can't see anything else that caused this, because I never use MORE button myself as the teasers.

WP support has yet to respond to my enquiries, and at the moment the forums are down.

Since the upgrade, I've added new plugins testing things out, or updated versions of some that I had before that now worked. But none were activated during the upgrade itself. This was upgrade #18 for me, so I was pretty much getting the kinks out of doing this by the time I got to this blog and, with 2400 posts it was an incentive.

I would hate to have to rebuild this database. Inside it is 4 other blogs' tables as well - it's a huge file. And, it takes forever to just edit a few posts so fixing the archives one file at a time makes no sense.

OFF-TOPIC: // While I was in my database I noticed this. Unfortunately I've got 5 blogs with different tables inside on database. I just installed the FireStats Plugin two days ago .. on 3 blogs part of this same database. From the dashboard settings, it appears that it identified the different tables of each blog in the single database, but inside the database there is only one set of Firestats tables. Of the three blogs, it's only collecting the first installation and locking up the other two, so in the dashboard of the other two, it's just that hourglass image. I thought I would mention in case anybody shares databases are reading this.

I did an upgrade with 1500 posts this week with tons of more tags and nothing happened. Are you using a more-link specific WordPress Plugin? And have you checked with the support forum?

I've not seen anything about this. I'm sure the posts aren't missing but still in your database. Have you looked in there to make sure the content is there? If the first part of the post shows in the excerpt, then it's still there and your permalinks might be messed up.

Keep your hair the way it is. I like it that way. ;-) Just be calm and thorough and look in all the right places. I'll keep an eye out.

I just upgraded one of my blogs which is stuffed to the gills with customization on every page. For a long time, that huge blog has been used as a crash-test-dummy by WordPress developers and Plugin authors. I've got Plugins that were specially created for the site that never saw the light of day and are not supported. I had a LOT of fear, as you can imagine, with such heavily coded template files so Plugin dependent.

It went like a breeze. Other than the issue with the categories, which everyone is suffering through, not a glitch. All plugins worked and my weeks of anxiety and hair pulling were over nothing. I was sure the whole thing would blog up.

So I'm sure there's something else going on that may be causing the problem.

Have you added anything in those 70 posts time period to the blog? That might be causing the problem, too.

Lorelle .. in your travels, have you heard of anybody upgrading to version 2.1 where all the posts that had a MORE tag associated with the post .. is suddenly replaced by a link to a non-existent more tag and the rest of the article is missing?

I just discovered that I've lost over 2000 entries that were destoryed by the upgrade of my Wordpress version 2.0.4 to 2.1 .. It's a disaster .. although I do have the initial backup Feb 4th 70 posts ago when I did upgrade. I've decided to get a haircut tomorrow so I don't pull out my hair.
