Since I blog mostly about Wordpress stuff and some tips and tricks, I do post about the upgrades and updates on my blog. I talk about the newly installed plugins and why I use them. I also talk about some problems that I encounter while using these plugins so that my readers would get an idea on how these things work and eventually help them in the future in case they decide to use it.

Good job Lorelle! Great read! :D

It's not important for me to notify visitors of upgrades to my site, but it is important, as members of the WP community, to get the word out *for* vital upgrades (see v2.1.1)

With trackbacks there are a growing number of sites using dofollow, I am glad I have done a little bit to encourage that.
The most important factor however is that if you write about a site and trackback, it is only of very little value even if it is reciprocated unless the overall themes of the 2 sites match, and you niche your content carefully.
Unrelated reciprocal links are almost worthless even if they are followed.

Great post Lorelle

When changes are made on my site, I feel the urge to share only because regular readers who might be subscribed via RSS may never have the opportunity to explore the changes made unless visiting the site. I also find that be sharing what changes have been made, readers speak-up vocalizing their approval or disapproval. I [personally] value reader approval and enjoy knowing when readers enjoy change.

Finally, some clear guidelines on what and what not to announce in one's blog. Lorelle has done it again. :D

I post that updates are in progress in my blog - because my blog is not available during upgrades. My blog can be down, but warning posts show up in my feedburner feed.

I post that updates are complete in my blog - in hopes that if there is problems after the upgrade that I didn't notice immediately, or am too lazy or oblivious to fully test prior to continuing (time is the best testing system) - that readers are generally helpful in letting me know that there are problems. If I didn't tell them that I've upgraded, and readers receive the same error - their perception is different of the cause.

I double post at my H-E.N. site all updates - firstly to help me keep track so I don't have to write it down - and yes, secondly for the blog-juice. Maybe old readers will take a second look at other existing sites in my Lot and become new readers .. it can happen. :)
