[...] “When we blog, we are giving part of ourselves to others. We are sharing our thoughts, insights, concerns, issues, feelings, and our stories with others. For some, blogging means sharing ourselves with the hope of making the world a better place. For others, blogging means sharing their interests in the hope of attracting other like-minded folks. Blogging is a two-way street of communication. You share your insights, and your readers respond. Over time, you understand that their comments are as much part of the content of your blog as your contributions. Your readers give you insights into what you say, nudge and push you along with your thinking, they encourage you, motivate you, and inspire you to blog better and more. In time, you learn that what they have to say is just as important as what you say. In giving of yourself, you get so much back in return.” Lorelle [Building Blog Relationships: Reaching Out] [...]

wow! Thanks.

Being a young blogger my reader is overhelmed with howto's and advices and everything about blogging. And especially, about writing tips and techniques. I don't want to say all those tips I've put into my head are useless cause they are not. But this post hit the spot.

It is not that you just made a point. I already knew, that relationship with readers is the magical thing that drives any writing. But it was the way you told it. This post was theory and demonstration in the same time.

Now, it is up to me to get back to finding out how to do that myself. Wish me luck.

Wow, Laura, thanks.

I know a lot of people get overwhelmed by the blogging words already out there. It's clear you have a lot to add to the conversation. There is SO MUCH out there not being talked about, that's the part that overwhelms me.

There are a lot of very high ethic folks out here in the blogosphere. A lot of folks who are very neighborly, in fact. ;-)

I am by far a beginner blogger. I don't know all of the etiquette, and I don't know all of the rules. As part of my new position at the company I work for, I am supposed to "get out there" and form new relationships in the blogosphere. Its a big, scary world out here, and all too often I find that I have nothing to say - or if I do, someone else has already said it. While I don't have any real substance to add to the above post, I can say that it is very comforting to know that some bloggers do have a conscience. I was worried that this world of blogging was just a superficial game of making friends so they will comment/link to your blog. I find this blog as one worth bookmarking - an honor not yet given in my small experience of the blogging community. So Congratulations Lorelle, you're the first to win my "Bookmark Worthy Blog" award. :)

Relationships are the fabric that weaves through our lives. Relationships are everyone's business and everyone's business is relationships. You can have a successful relationship outside of a business, but having a successful business outside of any relationships is next to impossible.

I look forward to what you write more. I'm still discovering and writing myself. :)
