After all that has happened, for me to keep silence is a travesty…not just to the Viginia Tech victims and their families, but to all other victims of gun related death all over the world. For me to keep silent is like condoning these horrible acts. And for all of us to keep silent, it can only signify one thing…we’ve lost, violence wins.

Contractually, Monday 30th April cannot be a day of silence for me, regardless of whether I believe in the cause or not.

Tragic though this event is, there are so many tragedies in the world, that to observe some kind of silence each time would render me wordless.

This isn't about stopping blogging. This is about remembering.

Everyone shouts. Everyone screams. Arguments. Debates. Rants. Raves. There is so much noise in this world attacking us from all sides that silence is a powerful tool.

But more important that this, by not blogging, by doing something united, whatever it is, at that moment, everyone participating is sharing the same thoughts. Thinking the same things. Remembering. It's a powerful united force when millions pause for a moment and think the same thing.

Having spent too much of my life lived in and around violence, silence is special. It is a power. It means for a moment, there is peace.

Do it or not, but it's a powerful thing to be still for a moment. The same moment as millions of others. Then get back to the business of using your blog to change the world.

You are doing that every day, aren't you?

hear me, I beg!

Some people are trying to make you believe that we should all observe one day of silence, no blogging and entire day because of what happened in Virginia. Even if the cause seems to sound noble I have to urge the the people of the cyberworld to walk away from this and not let yourselves be deceived by those people.

Silence is already present in our daily life. People don't talk to each other, we are, most of us afraid of showing our feelings to the world around us. People don't talk about mental disease, it's just not something you can talk about neither do people talk about suicide!

I urge you to, not add an other day of silence in your life. Silence is easy, talking is hard. You want to pay your respect to the victims of Virginia? the victims of violence all around the world? I beg you, don't go running to the easy option, one that will not, in no way at all, make this kind of violence drop.

On April 30th 2007 I beg of you, for once in your life, TALK about it!

No. No. No.
Do not shut down your blog because ANYBODY died. Who decides who is worth shutting down ANYTHING? Some A list blogger?
Nope.
Think for yourself. Write a nice memorial for the people that died. Write something totally gross. But think for yourself, and write what you like, when you like.
