I think there are many reasons why a person quits blogging. The problem I have is how they quit. Many make a big noise and then three months or less later they are back, having "recovered", "learned their lesson", or just unable to quit the thrill of blogging. And then there are those who do quit, and the world is a little darker because their light is gone. Either way, I think time off is always better, giving yourself time to figure out if this is the right decision or not. After two to three months, then you will know for sure and can make an announcement.

Making a decision in the heat of emotion or stress is the WRONG time to make a "final" decision on anything. Things change with a little perspective.

So we'll see on this one. He may be back or may be gone, but either way, leaving has brought more attention, hasn't it?

It doesn't seem like a very proactive way to handle this situation. Even his reasoning doesn't add up.

"But I guess some folks have taken it to heart and that’s not cool for me"

If you look at carefully, isn't he taking it to heart himself when he lets his reader's and other blogger's reactions dictate his decision?
