Six Apart appoints new Chairman and CEO in weekend shuffling

Six Apart today announced that Christopher J. Alden has been appointed Chairman and CEO. Alden succeeds Barak Berkowitz, who has served as Chairman and CEO since January 2004.

Chris Alden joined Six Apart over a year ago, most recently serving as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Professional Division of Six Apart, overseeing the TypePad and Movable Type businesses. Alden has a strong history of executive leadership and entrepreneurship at the intersection of media, communications and technology. Alden joined Six Apart as co-founder and CEO of Rojo Networks, Inc., a feed aggregation service which was acquired by Six Apart in 2006. Prior to Rojo, Alden was CEO of Red Herring Communications, the publisher of Red Herring magazine, which covered high-tech entrepreneurialism in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Barak Berkowitz has served as CEO of Six Apart for almost 4 years. He first became involved in the company in early 2003, when he met Six Apart’s founders Ben and Mena Trott. Soon after, he joined the board representing Neoteny, Six Apart’s first investor.
