The WordPress Podcast is out with a new episode. There are new tag WordPress Plugins for WordPress 2.3. The international WordPress community is setting up WordCamps around the world.I’m all a flutter about the new version. I was hoping that we’d see some of the new features on WordPress.com like tags, giving us a chance to test drive them, but many of these features you will see first i your full version upgrades.

The odds are that you did not deactivate your WordPress Plugins (can’t help you with the messed up backup). A few people have been having trouble with the upgrade, but many are having no trouble at all. The category thing is definitely causing trouble.

And always double check your backups, and make two or three of them, when doing such a serious upgrade.

Hi Lorelle.

This is quite a big post so I’ll read it in the weekend. In the meantime I’d like to share my experience with WP 2.3. I upgraded to it on Tuesday and my blog wouldn’t load. I quickly replaced it with the previous version but all my categories were gone. I had to manually restore them because I don’t know why wp-backup had messed up my backup. I wonder what was the problem. The blog started working again after I reverted back to the previous installation.
