NYTimes.com launches ‘Dot Earth’

NYTimes.com announced today the launch of Dot Earth, a blog dedicated to examining the growing human impact on the planet’s health. Written by Andrew C. Revkin, a science reporter for The New York Times, and with contributions from correspondents around the world, Dot Earth is a new online community where people can discover and discuss ways people are, and are not, shaping human affairs to limit environmental damage.

Dot Earth will explore relevant scientific, social, political and economic issues. Mr. Revkin will elaborate on his reports in the newspaper and post his exchanges with experts. Readers will eventually be invited to post photos, videos and join in the discussion.

Mr. Revkin is the recipient of a 2006 fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation which will fund part of his travel for Dot Earth.
