Like everywhere else in life, people are looking for a trick or shortcut, when what it takes is quality work and dedication. Do all the SEO stuff. Get the links. But without content, good content, you won't get anywhere. In the marketing business we have a saying: Good advertising kills bad products faster. I’m constantly amazed at how bloggers just don’t get the fact that content is THE way to get traffic and subscribers. Like everywhere else in life, people are looking for a trick or shortcut, when what it takes is quality work and dedication.

Do all the SEO stuff. Get the links. But without content, good content, you won’t get anywhere.

I have a tendency to hide out when deep in computer-land. But when I step away I find rejuvination in the simplest of things. I have a laptop - maybe I should get more mobile and really use it...! Another tip. Go on regular walks/runs (good for you anyway) and take a notebook and pen. The stimulus of the notebook encourages thinking about writing projects. And, of course, you won't forget the bright ideas that come along as you daydream. A small, ratty notebook will do - it's going to become tatty soon anyway.
