I wanted to post you the bit of remark to say thank you as before on your beautiful ideas you have shared at this time. This is open-handed of you to convey publicly precisely what numerous people would have sold as an e book to generate some money for themselves, principally considering the fact that you might have tried it if you ever wanted. Those tricks as well served as a great way to comprehend someone else have similar zeal really like my own to understand lots more with regard to this matter. I am sure there are some more pleasant situations up front for those who take a look at your blog post.

I agree, that we do not have control over the ads and they look ugly most of the times. Do you think advertisers will leave importance to your content when you are publishing their ads ? no, when someone look at your blog or website, they want their ad to look attractive, than your content.. thats how they become ugly !!

Now, what if blogging is a hobby, and we need some money to support its hosting expense ? would you put ads then ?

I am reading the other article ! thanks for that looooooooong comment.. looks like you wrote an entire post :)

If the blog is really personal, you do not need ads. It's not about the money, it's about the blogging.

If the blog's purpose is to generate income, then the ads need to reflect the quality and integrity of the content. Ads today are ugly. Very few are even close to pleasant to look at, and most people ignore them when they see them, since they are so ugly. Few bloggers really can control what types of ads appear on their blogs. I've seen some who say they can, and when I look, the ads are for dog food, dating services, mortgages, casinos, and other unrelated and inappropriate products and services. Sometimes they are appropriate, but not all the time.

Someday the ad industry will get the fact that we want our blogs to look good, and offer good looking ads, but for now, the majority of ad plans are ugly.

An ad-filled blog gets in the way of the reader experience, thus, makes the experience of reading the blog uncomfortable and turns away many readers and linkers.

If the ads are placed in a way as to not interfere with the reader, then they also stand a chance of making less money for the blogger. If money is the object of the blog, then the ads come first. If content is the object, and really the purpose of the blog, then ads come last.

It's a personal decision. I've written extensively about how money changes your blog and the way you blog. If your blog is truly personal, than its importance far outweighs your need to have the blog earn income.

Leave that to the professionals whose business relies upon the blog earning income.

That's my humble opinion. It usually never gets in the way or changes the intent of greed on the web. ;-)

Lorelle, when read the second time, re think ads, its leaving me confused....

this is what I understand, if its your company blog, or let us say,if your blog has something to sell, or something to market, dont think about ads, it may cause interest clashes.

But if you are the income generating force on your blog, ie, if there is no other income generating forces ..behind you ( like the interest of the company, web presence of the company, customer contacts of the company etc ) ........ hmm ie, if the blog is truely personal.... in the income earning view point,,,, then what ? you don't answer it there do you ?

I have to disagree with Go Blog Not Website. Blogs are good for talking about pain points or experiences; websites are still the way to take them thru a product or interact in any sort of non-messaging way.

I say you need both: blog it to talk it, website it for the nitty gritty and interaction.

Great post!
