Why Blogs Can Be Extremely Profitable But …

There is a cloud over many of the world economies caused by the financial woes in the USA. When the American banks sneeze the rest of us catch a cold. This is causing a lot of people to worry about their jobs and mortgages, so of course there will be many who look at blogs for a quick buck.

I’m not a “make money online” blogger, I don’t really do the monetization posts like Darren or John Chow, but I do believe blogs are an excellent way to make some money, even if it is just a supplemental side income.

There are low overheads and potentially high profits, doing something fun and rewarding. What’s not to like?

When one of the largest blog networks was founded on the investment of only a few hundred dollars people take notice. Many 6 or 7-figure-value blogs were built off cash drawn from credit cards and student debt.

It is NOT though a fast-money scheme by any stretch.

If you are looking at blogging as a means to suppliment or even replace your income you need to start now and really put the effort in.

There are no quick routes to riches through blogging, and it takes even more dedication and patience if you want to build something with real long term value rather than spam, scam and burn.

It is hard work, it does take time, but there are a growing number of bloggers who make a full time living from their efforts. Avoid the short term thinking, put in the planning and ground work, and work hard to please your audience. Grow something worthwhile and of value and you will see the rewards.

  • Chris,

I totally agree with your post. I think it takes a lot of time being a full time blogger, but i cannot imaging a better job :)!

  • I agree, it does take a lot more work. Unless you’re letting another site host it, like wordpress.com, it does require extra effort getting a reliable host, setting up everything, and then actually writing good content on schedule.

  • In my mind, blogging can be a very lucrative venture, as well as mentally & financially liberating for those who have a strong desire to succeed in life, without following the traditional way of society of “day jobbing”. For myself, I can’t even get a day job…lol

I must admit that blogging is very hard work in the infancy stages, as far as building, uploading, promoting, creating great RSS content for continual search engine crawler indexing, so on and so forth.

If you have a will, no matter how down and out one is in life, and are willing to give up alot of things, such as partial sleep, friends who go against you, and can deal with adversity , most of all….acknowledging——> “GOD”

Then with HIM, you can succeed in anything your heart desires!!! Just remember to humble yourself and give back of your free will when you do in fact amass fruitfully from your business endeavors…..:-)

  • The part about it being low cost and high margin is true that no cash is involved. But there is a cost to a person’s time. Which can be very high or very low depending on how one utilizes it.

I blogged at http://www.personalmoneytips.com/blog rather irregularly at first and is earn me some money. Not a lot considering the time it takes me to write and maintain the site. It beats watching the idiot box.

If you are serious about blogging, it can and has lead many people to major windfalls.

  • Blogging for a living will take a really long time to reach, I’ve been blogging for over a year now and I’m not even close to being able to live off of that income, BUT, it is still possible, especially if you are good at it.

I don’t suggest anyone quit there job to start blogging but I do think that blogging is a great way to get some supplemental income.
