Camino 1.6 Is Out (That’s a Mac Web Browser, People)

Camino 1.6 just launched, and is available for download. For those not well-versed in the world of Mac web browsers, Camino is a Mozilla based project but for Mac only. Actually, previous releases have been pretty good, and if you’re pissed at the stability of Firefox, and don’t want to run Safari, then Camino is a good call. It blends better with Mac OS X out of the box as well. I used to run it, but I rely too much on Firefox extensions for it to be really competitive.

Anyway, why should you care? Well, today the web browser is our primary tool, something I doubt I really should point out. You should make it your business to find one that appeals to you.

On another note, the Camino blog totally sucks. I can’t link to the 1.6 release post, because there are no visible permalinks. No good, Camino Times people.

I’ve been using Camino now for a while, and will surely upgrade to 1.6.
I’ve come to love the simplicity of that browser, so for plain, “browse-only” use, it’s perfect. At least for me.

Permalink via ATOM appears to be: http://caminobrowser.org/blog/2008/#camino1.6

Now if someone would only make truly cross-browser extensions so I could load up all my Firefox stuff in Camino or Safari, we’d be in good shape, eh? Javascript Bookmarklets only go so far :-)
