Would people be able to register different domains?

I mean, I could register the ".johnson" TDL -- then "resell" the domains on it to all the Johnsons out there.

Is that in the works??

My mom, who is in her 60s, has a hard time with any domain name that's not of the form www.example.com. She finds both www.example.net and anything-not-www.example.com confusing. She'd be confused by this, too, at first. But after major companies announce their new websites in their TV commercials, she'll adapt.

Either that, or major companies will just stick with dot-com and nothing will really change.
