WordPress.com Enables Support for Google Gears
WordPress.com have added a Turbo button in the admin area. This is to enable Google Gears, if your browser supports it, and speed up things using it. For instance, Google Gears is used for offline access to web apps like Google Docs, but how can it benefit WordPress.com?
On WordPress.com it is used to store all images and other web page components from the admin area to the user’s PC, speeding up access and reducing unnecessary web traffic.
That’s from the launch post.
Upcoming WordPress 2.6, now in beta 2, will have the same kind of support for Google Gears.

I guess neither FF3 or Safari support Gears? Am I looking for a button or a link?
And what do you consider Admin area? Dashboard? If so, then please refer to it as Dashboard. K? thank you.

Firefox 3 supports Gears, Safari will soon. And the correct term for the admin area is the admin area. The Dashboard is the front page of the admin area, so calling the admin the Dashboard is the wrong terminology. Also, you’re looking for a link in the admin menu, something you should see if you login.
The link for “Turbo” is next to the login area to the upper right of the WordPress Administration Panels, the proper name for the UI, interface, dashboard, admin area, and whatever other terms people come up with for it. The Dashboard is indeed one of the panels in the Administration Panels. :D
Great new plugin and great article. I am interested in adding a cache plugin and wondering if they can work together or are they over redundant ??
thanks again.
@ Jack:
Google Gears only caches a few things with WordPress, mostly associated with content production. It caches to your desktop not server. Super Cache and Batcache work on caching your site on the server. Fruit, but apples and oranges.
Google said they were working on a version for Safari well over a year ago. Here we are today, and still no word.
