Aweber Talks to Twitter

Aweber, a mailing list service that costs money, has added Twitter support. This means that you can send a tweet automatically, when a new email is being delivered to the mailing list. Darren Rowse, an Aweber users, has screenshots.

  • AWeber is ok if you want to use an inflexible product with smug customer service and demeaning responses when they learn you aren’t a tech geek or that their product doesn’t have the flexibility to do what you need it to do. They then will act like they are doing you a favor for using their product. While they have a lot of positive feedback it’s mostly the result of their affiliate program and people just trying to make money off of you signing up rather than promoting the best solution. I strongly recomend avoiding AWeber if at all possible.

  • Mitch,

they are felixble, from payment plans to GOOD customer service, to advanced analytics tools as well.

Where else are you going to go to get all that high-end techie geek stuff you seem to dislike for rock bototm pricing?

Ask around and see what most internet marketers are using, and it’s either Aweber or Get Response, but GR doesn’t do what Aweber does, but their affiliate programs pays more..

Aweber doesn’t need to pay more to its affiliates to increase its membership..

  • I never said that I didn’t like their features nor that their features were geeky, I said their product was inflexible and didn’t suit my needs. When this became apparent to the rep I spoke to instead of figuring out a way to make it work they made it sound is my needs were secondary and that my idea in general was foolish. I know a ton of people that use AWeber and are happy with it, I’m not one of them.
I am from a different school, I am willing to pay a few bucks more for top notch customer service and to get a product that fits mine and my readers needs. I don’t cater to advertisers who are willing to pay me to advertise their product or pay me to review or write about their product so why would I cater to Aweber as opposed to my readers? I do not tolerate smug nor demeaning comments from customer service reps for any product and I won’t make an exception for AWeber. If you are OK with rude and insensitive help to save a few bucks by all means go for it if you want a product which has limitations on list creation and grouping like AWeber does.
You can not pick specific people and create a group, they all need to fit into another category like day they signed up on or before etc, so if you want to send out more than 1 batch of the same email in 1 day to your new subscribers you CAN NOT without resending to everyone else who signed up on the same day. Every other service I’ve talked to has this capability for exactly the same price.

  • That’s why you segregate your lists, using their Automation features..

You seperate the buyers of certain products from other buyers, and can send to exactly whomever you want…

Plus, as this article indicates, it’s not going to be integrated in with Twitter features, comibining the power of Web 2.0 social networking in with email marketing…

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with them, I’ve contacted them about 30 times over the course of the 2+ years I’ve been with them, and the 2 bad experiences I had came from the same employee who was terminated shortly thereafter…

I had Get Response, too, and it doesn’t do what AWeber does…

But as long as you’re happy NOW… that’s all that really matters.

Best of luck to you with your marketing endeavors…

    Dan

P.S. That’s right, I even got a domain name up because this is truly the best AR out there

  • UPDATE on 11/6/08

OK while Aweber doesn’t do everything I want it to do I finally had a gret customer service experience which really is all i had hoped for. I know no system is perfect but when you get bad customer service on top of it that makes you feel even dumber for not understanding tech stuff it makes it worse.
Nick there is fantastic and had them go to my blog and actually fix something that I would have never been able to figure it out. That alone changes my opinion.

    Mitch
