I wonder why? :D Yes, many have had successful updates from the very latest version of WordPress to WordPress 2.7 using one of the auto update Plugins, but some are reporting similar errors. For most people, moving up to WordPress 2.7 could be the last manual upgrade you do. Looks like it should have been for you. This is probably why you are having problems.

Check the compatibility lists in the article to find out if your Plugins are compatible with WordPress 2.7 and/or if an update is available.

You can do an update with the Automatic Update Plug-In. You can find it at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/. My only problem is whenever I try to update a post the post editor will not function properly, so I have been having to delete them and make a new post. Also some of my plugins are no longer working.
