Bloggers Behaving Badly

Most of the bloggers I know are hard-working, law-abiding citizens. However, this morning I could not seem to escape stories about bad bay bloggers.

Kevin Cogill, the blogger who foolishly posted the new Guns N’ Roses tracks before they were officially released, was sentenced to two months of home confinement and one year of probation. The good news? He’ll have plenty of time to blog.

Two Azerbaijan opposition bloggers, Adnan Hadzhizade and Emin Milli, are being held by authorities after allegedly getting into a fight with several men at a Eurasian cafe. The other involved individuals were released. The U.S. and German Embassy are concerned.

Last month we told you about right-wing blogger Harold “Hal” Turner who was accused of encouraging violence through his blog. Apparently the case has been deemed so serious that it has been passed along to a division of the court that handles more serious matters.

I don’t know about you, but I’m on extra good behavior today. There are already too many people (and bloggers!) behind bars.

  • Got to pull you up re. Emin and Adnan. THEY were attacked and when they reported the attack to the police THEY were arrested whilst the attackers were allowed to go free.

Emin and Adnan are law-abiding citizens whose only “crime” was to speak out against the corrupt and repressive regime in Azerbaijan.

There is widespread outrage about what has happened to them – which is why the US and German Embassies – as well as the British Embassy – have become involved.

  • I think bloggers are particularly nasty when you comment on a site in which you are opposed politically. People are territorial.
