Scared of the FAIL Whale? Backup Your Tweets

You already know that there’s a 50/50 chance that Twitter will be down when you go to login. But what if the service went down for the count? I know it’s highly unlikely, but as we enter the digital age at full stride, it’s a safe bet that there will be some harsh lessons learned. Don’t be a victim.

Bloggled.com has launched a new Twitter backup tool, ensuring that your 140-character-at-a-time brilliance knows no expiration date. Offered at $4.99 a month (there’s a 30-day free trail),the Twitter backup service will save and organize your tweets, follow lists, and other important aspects of your Twitter account, including followers and followees. If your data should ever be lost via Twitter, you will be able to retrieve all of your backed up updates.

Bloggled has always been available as a blog backup service for Blogger users, but the Twitter angle is something new. If you have ever considered converting your blog into a book, you can get on the company’s alert list to be notified when the feature becomes available.

  • That’s just silly. Tweets are ephemeral by nature. If they’re gone, they’re gone.

The people who think they have to save every last 140-character vapidity are likely the ones who still have every email they ever got.

  • Didn’t Facebook clear out all its old wall posts? So surely as Twitter grows it will need to make space on it Servers?

I dont really see why you would want to save your Tweets, I can imagine some people may even need there own server with the minute by minute updates they post over the years!

I dont see the point of a back up service – sorry :-S
