They announced that the're now backing off this, and
will be more lenient on personal distribution.
The deal is with CBS for the next 15 years for
$3 billion.

I hope every fan going to the first SEC game this season takes their cell phone out and starts texting, tweeting, FBing, blogging, snapping pics...etc. What are they going to do, escort everyone out of the stadium? Wow that would make for an exciting game with no fans in the stadium.

I have a question, how are they really going to stop fans from using social media during the event? I mean all you need is a cell phone, with a cell phone you can text to anyone, tweet, post to facebook & blog, take pictures and video.

Are they really crazy enough to ban cell phones? That will not even stop fans from specking or communicating, that is like trying to stop a stampede.

Good luck to them, but while I understand that they have an exclusive deal with media companies ESPN and CBS and want them to get it out first, its not right to restrict the fans so much...no pictures, no video, no tweets, no blogging, no texts...your restricting the media coverage of your event, its not the fans fault that they get things out faster then the tradional media does, welcome to the new age.

It's a little crazy to think they can even CONSIDER that kind of a ban. I understand the intent, but are they going to confiscate every cell-phone or mobile device that enters the arena/stadium? Are there going to be "police" patrolling looking for people texting? And then how will they know if it's someone setting up a movie date vs "illegal fan action".

It's crazy. If anything, people tweeting and facebooking can LEND to the excitement of a live game and possibly make people want to attend.
