My Mommy Reads My Blog

I’m not embarrassed to admit that my mom reads my blog.

For some people, that could mean the ultimate in self-censorship. Luckily for me, I was blessed with progressive-thinking parents whom I am incredibly close with.

The reality is that even if my mom was NOT reading my blog, I would pretend that she did. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

There has been a glut of news recently surrounding bloggers who are engaged in poor or questionable ethics.

From outed blogger Rosemary Port labeling a Canadian model Liskula Cohen as a “skank
to Harold “Hal” Turner allegedly attempting to incite violence, I’ve gotta wonder what their mommies think about this blogging abuse.

Whether you blog anonymously, under a pen name, or as yourself, the world would be a much better place if one of your blogging goals was to make your mom proud.

Part of the beauty of blogging is that many of us have become our own editors. At first glance, this sounds like a dream come true. But further examination will reveal that the absence of a true editor means the blogger must wear two hats…that of writer AND editor.

It’s YOUR name on the line. Before you hit publish on your next post, I would ask yourself if it would make mom proud.

Hi mommy!
