Hi, this is Jayvee Fernandez, chief editor of Splashpress Media. As you may have witnessed in mainstream media, the blogs, and Twitter (we are trending), the Philippines (where I’m from) has been hit by the worst flood in recent history because of typhoon ‘Ketsana’ / ‘Ondoy.’ The media has labeled this an epic flood since 1967. One month’s worth of rainfall in the span of 6 hours. It is so epic, it has its own Tumblr account.

Dock

As I write this entry from a safe refuge, I cannot say the same for many other citizens and blogger friends who have had their material possessions, including cars, washed away. A detailed account can be read here, courtesy of Manolo Quezon.

The local blogging community has been adamant and vigilant disseminating information about relief centers, hotline numbers, donations and other such efforts through Facebook, Twitter, and our other local social networks (we’re glad that most still have Internet, despite cellular networks conking out). it is during times like these when we realize how powerful social media can be in the absence of conventional networks.

How to help

If you are not from the Philippines and wish to send donations you can do so through the TXTPower PayPal address.

You can also donate directly to the Philippine National Red Cross in various ways.

Donations are of course purely voluntary but I feel the need to post this here as it would be against my conscience to sit back and do nothing. Thank you. Your donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. If not for the blogs and social media, we would suffer bigger losses.

  • Rest assure that NDCC Chairman GILBERT “GIBO” TEODORO is doing his best to help the Filipino people…..as a matter of fact GIBO IS OUT THERE GETTING HIS FEET WET AND PERSONALLY TAKING CHARGE OF ALL THE RESCUE OPERATIONS!

  • You don’t have to emphasize what your “GIBO” is doing. It is his JOB. No need to highlight. My parents are stranded in Metrogreen Vill. Sta. Lucia Pasig and I am only seeing 2 rubber boats in the Rosario-Junction Area. Very, very limitted help being sent to the area. Eusebio what are you doing?!!????

  • Luzon is being flooded, the best you need to do is help – not campaign for some presidential candidate. Everyone should help everyone. I am praying for the victims of Ondoy, and for the safety of everyone.

  • to the people who have the courage to help those who are in need whether in the class A families, are really hero’s..those people who tried to rescue those trap victims of the calamity are also hero’s…keep up the good heart…for us who can’t go there and help them all we have to do is pray for those who are grieved for their lost.. and not to critisize each other…Being good is commendable, but only when it is combined with doing good is it useful. If we could all hear one another’s prayers, God might be relieved of some of his burdens. What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal

  • This disaster is so unbelievable that it hit METRO MANILA itself. I almost cried when I watched that old lady on a chopper rescued from her roof top, drenched in rain, filthy flood water and I bet, she endured the gruesome smell of the raging water*** SHe shivered so hard that her eyeballs sinked into the eyeball socket; her lips was so dry. She was so skinny and cold but the rescuers has nothing to give her to keep her warm. They plunge her into the ambulance. I thought “hope she’s safe now.’ Other than that, I bet she wasn’t able to eat nor drink for several hours already…I’m 21 and I love old people and it grips my heart so tight watching them in pain. I am currently residing in Mandaluyong, not far enough from CAINTA and PASIG; two of the most affected cities in MM. I want to help. … Just shoot me an email… My friends and I are willing to give a hand… You are not alone…

  • This may elections, the Filipino people will remember Gilbert Teodoro, Head of NDCC and his 6 Rubber Boats they used during typhoon Ondoy’s rescue operations as well as the alleged php800M contingency fund diverted to travel expenses of his boss.

  • Hi, lets remain as calm as possible kahit na mahirap. We all have our own stories & our own relatives, friends devastated by this storm. I really have very little amor for the government but i would rather spend my time doing what we Filipinos do best & that’s bayanihan. Go through your closets & your pantries & give what you can. For every 1 person who sits & watches or complains about everything instead of helping, that’s x other people doing the same thing…& that we CANNOT afford.

    Thanks.

  • This country is hit by a natural calamity time after time. I know that the Filipino spirit of helping each other is great and a lot of people admire the resilient Filipino spirit. Manga tsong, we need your help what ever centavo or dime or nickel there is, we plead for a helping hand.

More than the help that you will contribute, we need you to tell your friends out there that politics in the Philippines need to stop and we need change….real change to set in so that the next time mother nature is going to be harsh to the Filipino people, the Philippine goverment is ready, capable and willing to respond positively at a cost of zero single Filipino life lost.

  • thank you sa mga nagmagandang-loob na tumulong sa mga kababayan natin na nasalanta ng bagyo…we should all learned from what happened, otherwise it could only be a start of something worst :-(

it’s time to wake up! our government should be more strict in implementing laws against illegal logging and waste segregation..kung napansin nyo, maraming putik na nadala coming from highlands of Rizal province…indication po ito na nkakalbo n ung mga forests dahil sa pag-uuling and tremendous logging..I’m from Laguna and malapit kami sa mt. banahaw, good thing may group na nangangalaga sa forest dun, kaya nmn nde kami binabaha…

as concerned individuals, we should also take our part by conserving our resources, mga simpleng bagay (i.e. tissue, papers, etc) and promote waste segregation and recycling,,,sana marami po tayong natutunnan sa nangyari para nde na maulit ung nangyari…

    Mabuhay Philippines!!!

  • Re: Marikina (typhoon Ondoy) Flood 26 Sept. 2009,
death toll in Provident Village alone:
Official( according to MCF)= 16 dead
    unofficial = 58 dead

A SENATE INVESTIGATION IS IN ORDER!!!

The recent flood is very unfortunate result of both natural and man made calamities. The release of excess dam waters was done without thinking of the consequences. it is both a criminal and insane act.

“The Angat Lake created by the Angat dam is the main potable water supply source of the Metro Manila Area. However this water when in over abundance, due to very heavy rainfall, is also the cause of widespread flooding, deaths, and accompanying misery affecting not only the provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga but also the Metro Manila Area. This happens everytime the dam water reaches its maximum height and the spilled water races down through the gullies and streams to the east of the dam and this rampaging water joins the water of the Marikina river system multiplying the floodwater volume of the Marikina River system thereby causing rapid increase in the volume of floodwater in the Marikina Valley. This happens everytime very heavy rains overfills the Angat water reservoir. The solution to this problem is the construction of water diversion/power generation tunnels to divert excess water towards the east emptying into the Pacific Ocean. It will also generate power. It is not enough that the excess water is emptied into the heavily populated areas, i.e, Bulacan, Pampanga area,Marikina Valley, as it definitely will cause multiple death and destruction downstream. Diverting the excess water to the east will save so many lives as the east side is relatively sparsely populated and at the same time generate power for electricity. The Government of the Republic of the Philippines must consider this as a permanent solution to the recurring problem of flooding in the central Luzon area and Metro Manila.”

I’m sorry for encroaching into your space but I do not know where to start. Please think about the opinion I expressed above. You may freely share this thought with your friends, hoping that someday, the people criminally responsible for the release of Angat dam water, on the morning of 26 September 2009,shall face the bar of justice. An in-depth study and analysis of google maps and wikimapia maps will prove my point. Better, a short helicopter trip tracing the path of the floodwaters will verify this matter. The evidence left by the rampaging flood water will trace it back to its source and is difficult, impossible to erase.

  • I was really heartbroken seeing the aftermath of our previous deeds. Admit it or not, WE started this tragedy. But let’s not blame one another. Let us just thank that Typhoon Ondoy has finally left our country. Yet, we must also expect to see a worse scenario after the flood subsides. It’s just so painful to see families torn apart. Death entered our doors without us knowing what will happen to our loved ones.
Now, Philippines seems to be the cradle of mourning and grieving families. The total cost of damages cannot be measured in thousands and millions of pesos, but in the amount of tears and sobs that linger in our surrounding. How I badly hope that those tears will just vanish as flood subsides, but it’s not as easy as that.
Now more than ever, is the right time to show our inner concern and support to our fellow Filipinos, especially those who were directly being hit by Ondoy. More than clothes, medicines, food and shelter, we can donate our LOVE and SYMPATHY to the victims of this tragedy.
I am really grateful that we are saved from this harm. May this remind us to always appreciate and take care of everything that He has bestowed us. We don’t want to feel His revenge again, do we?
This tragedy taught us many lessons, and it’s up to us how we’re going to instill them in our hearts.
Let us all pray for all those who perished, especially to their loved ones who are mourning to their loss. Prayers, material things and love are all they need to get over this agony and start a new chapter in their lives.

  • Typhoon Ondoy made me realize that anyone, even those with seemingly all the wealth and luxury as compared to the most ordinary of Filipinos can become victims. I feel sorry for those people who have worked their lives and now lost so much of what they have.

(But if I could just say this: for those “kurakot” officials who have made their richness through graft, well whoever they may be and if they have also become victims of typhoon Ondoy, serves them right for losing their possessions).

It’s during these times when we should realize that there are better things in life than luxuries and that the people’s money should be used to protect and save them from these kinds of crises.

  • Our power was only restored yesterday afternoon so I only saw the magnitude of typhoon Ondoy yesterday. We were even enjoying our bonding time with our daughter, we were playing shadow puppets with her Saturday evening, and we did not even realize that a lot of our kababayans are in deep danger already.

They say that Typhoon Ondoy is the same as Hurricane Katrina that cause great damages to lives and property in the US. But according to Pag-asa, Hurricane Katrina is no match to typhoon Ondoy as it dumped a total of 455 millimeters of rain in Quezon City alone in 24 hours, compared to the 250 millimeters of rain of Hurricane Katrina. No wonder areas that are not affected by flood before, suddenly experienced knee deep or waist deep flood.

I was watching the news yesterday and there are already more than 70 people who died because of the typhoon (I hope they have return of premium life insurance so at least their families are covered).

I remember the last time I experienced the same intensity of typhoon was a few years ago, with Typhoon Milenyo. Milenyo just passed Manila for a few hours but it caused terrible amount of damages. After watching the effects of Typhoon Ondoy, I can’t help but feel scared as we can really see the effects of Global Warming.

Let us pray that all of us will be safe and let us all pray for all the victims of typhoon Ondoy.

    Edward

  • just for everyone’s information, fairlane and twinville subdivision residents (marikina) are also all badly damaged. hindi po nakakarating ang media and government support, even until now. thanks to some good samaritans who helped in rescuing my family and others who were trapped on the roofs. lagpas tao talaga ang tubig. people there need help. hindi po noodles and canned goods ang kailangan. kailangan po ng trucks para hakutin ang lahat ng nasirang gamit. shovels para mahakot ang sobrang kapal na putik. firetrucks para mabombahan ng tubig ang loob ng mga bahay, di talaga kaya nang manu-mano ang pagtanggal ng putik. calling sa lahat ng junk shops, kung pwde na meron kayong trucks to go around the villages para makuha ung mga junk na pwde for some amounts para makatulong na rin sa mga residents. government officials, provision for relocation not just evacuation. DepEd and NDCC, please lang hindi kaya ng two days lang ang cleaning and restoration, make it a week. and it’s for NCR hindi lang for some areas. what if like me, im in marikina but i work in san juan, we’re badly affected but since hindi naman declared na walang pasok in san juan, i need to go to work leaving my family with this condition. if i absent myself naman from work, that’s salary deduction and effeciency rating debit. is it fair? by the way, yung mga umiikot na coast guard, army, firetrucks and rescue ambulances kuno, umiikot lang talaga sila. they will just pass by you, sabay busina pa at nakaharang daw sa daan. do they even bother to ask how are you, seeing what has happened? NAH! one more thing, those private individuals with their latest XUV/SUV/sedan model, kapag dumadaan kayo sa twinville or fairlane, at medyo mabagal ang flow ng traffic, pwede ba wag kayong busina nang busina? kita nyo naman ang sitwasyon d b? everything is wrecked! so marami naglalakad na tao, other vehicles are gathering what were left in their properties, so mabagal talaga, wag kayong mayabang na businahan ang mga tao dun, besides, nakikiraan lang kayo! darating din ang panahon, makakaranas din kayo ng sobrang pagbagsak…

  • I’m just making some candid observations on the incompetence of Phil TV (or entertainment) media at such critical moments like yesterday’s typhoon Ondoy. It’s a reality in our Phil media and TV broadcasting – it should adapt in times of emergency. The coverage is more on the celebrities who got stranded — not the local folks.

Emergency responders make a difference after disaster hits. Precious air time minutes should be focused on emergency preparedness, on what the public should know or do to avoid or minimize casualties, which areas is high risk, and use this opportune time as impromptu communication hub to alert various govt units (NDCC) or volunteers where people need help. Looking at the way they present the news, it looks like just another storm hits Manila.

In times like this, the whole world doesn’t really care if the lamed TV host can’t make it to his WOWOWEE show and why. Or that some movie actors houses sank under water and so and so. That’s my point.

  • ***ONDOY***This is a horrible circumstance Filipino are facing today and I commend those who extend their hands and pockets to help our fellow KABABAYANs deeply suffering from this calamity…. Politicians are making their move, TV shows for one, and famous brands like COCA COLA, NESTLE, LUCKY ME, etc etc etc are on toll to build up millions of pledges and money to help those in dire need…. *** But the story does not end up all of us helping each other as thieves make their move as well; taking every bit of oppurtunity to steal things from abandoned houses.. I mean what the #%&$! …On the other side of the coin, this disaster captured the brows of international journalists also as we are being featured in BBC news and others. But you know what? It appears that we are so strong and callous that those that are featured on TV are not crying nor wailing…They could not believe it but what else they could do. It happened already and there’s no turning back..ONDOY is now a famous name we will never forget…BUT the TRUTH is THE WORSE and THE WORST is yet to come.. We just have to keep ourselves ready….

  • it is indeed painful reading blogs that blames rescuer for their late rescue of the flood victims… my father is of the Philippine Army, and when typhoon frank hit our province his troops were asked to report to work and assist in the rescue activities of the civil defense office… our place wasn’t flooded yet when he left us but after an hour the rushing water made us to climb in our rooftop… I was with my mom, my two younger sisters (7 months and the two years old) and my ill grandma… It was sad, dad was there sacrificing his life rescuing other people while his own family was too in danger…

Now, i want to ask the typhoon ondoy victims this question: Do we really need to blame the rescue group when they come late? Should we not consider what they feel at times like this?

Unless if you haven’t and never ever did litter even a single trash in the street, then we should blame the government and we are free of the blame…

This disaster didn’t happen for us to point who has all the mistakes… Since mother nature cannot speak, she made it trough her actions…

  • I agree with Rose. Lets remember that the rescuers themselves have their own families and are victims too. We should salute them for going the extra mile and helping people. They can not do everything, of course. They’re humans not superheroes.

  • Trained rescuers always adhere to the principle of “safety first” before engaging in any rescue operation or work. Many times, to an untrained bystander, this principle may come as an inaction or delayed reaction on the part of a rescuer in the face of an emergency situation. Lest we forget, a rescuer is also a human being whose self-preservation is a paramount concern. Before a trained rescuer could jump into an emergency situation, he must first assess the situation (the hazards involve, the obstacles along the way and his personal capability). It is also important for the rescuer to exhaust the least risky means of rescue. For instance, in Water Rescue, there is such thing as the TTrG or “Toe, Throw, Go” principle. In layman’s term, a rescuer must try first extending a stick to a drowning victim or throw a line if a stick cannot reach the victim, before contemplating going for a dive towards the victim.
Sadly, many “rescuers” die because they probably lack the training or they have overestimated their capability. A rescuer has a limit to his endurance. Of what use is a good intention if you are a dead hero.

  • It’s fairly clear that the flooding was caused not by heavy rainfall but by the simultaneous release of dam water. A month’s worth of water volume due to “heavy” rainfall within 6 hours? A mere cover-up by people not wanting to take the blame, purely B.S.

  • prayers can move mountains.. it could therefore save the world…. let us all together say a little prayer every 9pm for our brothers and sisters who were in the midst of the Ondoy tragedy.

  • mr. mark anthony, not all of the people defy muslims.. you are blinded by your own personal belief… in our place, christians out numbered muslims yet we never ever did bash them because of their beliefs and religion… my relative from Sulu also a muslim confirmed to me that bombings in several mosques in your place were done by muslims themselves and not by the philippine army… We don’t want war, we want peace!

  • Its been 5days since ondoy devastated our country. Most of the flooded cities had been subside already, but in our place in pasig, particularly in San Miguel, Rainforest, Lupang Pari flood was still the same we need our local official to do there job. We can no longer ask our National Government, they already doing their job. Hope our Local Government also.. If you can somehow subside the flood please do so. Many people will soon get sick due to stagnant, smelly, and dirty water. Please, PLease PLEASE.. DO YOUR JOB!!

  • I am sooooo mad I had to tell you this. Yesterday we had relief operations in San Mateo. We were asked to stop at the municipal hall and the mayor was trying to convince us to just drop off our goods at the said place. We decided to leave the contents of one of the three trucks we brought. Lo and behold! We found a thousand more relief goods but this time, they were repacked into plastic bags with the mayor’s fu**king name printed on them!

  • hi sali ako ha.. just wanna add something some bloggers kept blaming and pointing fingers towards the governemnt kesyo ganito kesyo ganyan.. maraming dapat akong narinig..maraming mali akong narinig.. well my friends not all goverment workers are laxed with their responsibilities.me mga families din silang iniwan at the peak of the flood but then mas pinilli nilang gampanan ang trabaho nila iwan ang family nila para tumulong sa mga nasasalanta. di po biro ung pagod na naranasan nila para rin silang victim sa pangyayari.. kelangan din nilang magpuyat para lng am adddress ang mga needs ng mga nasalanta.

  • PLEEEAASSSE!!!!!!!!! Stop blaming ANYONE! It’s everbody’s fault. Blame yourselves. Yes, it’s calamity. But most of us Filipinos are stubborn.

It’s about time to learn from all of this, take action and be prt of the solution.

  • As per people of Makati, we never saw Mayor Binay’s (Mayor Binay was actually enjoying playing badminton at The Zone, Makati) barangay people doing rounds in Brgy Olympia which is one of the badly hit areas of Makati. It took Brgy Olympia up to Tuesday afternoon to get it dry completely. Ganito kami sa Makati ngayon….

Unlike before, Olympia then takes overnight to get it dry. Unlike before, Mayor Yabut then was very visible in Makati in times of calamities and emergencies helping residents. Unlike before, Brgy people then coordinates with the National and local govt to ask for assistance. Oo nga pala, sorry, we saw them nga pala erecting toldas for birthday party last Sunday on one of the streets, nawala na lang sila agad pag kakain at pag ka inum, samantalang kaming biktima ni Ondoy ay umasa na lang sa pagiging self-sufficient in order to survive.

O God , please help and remind us that you are always beside us while our country recovers from this disaster. Protect us from any harm and danger in this time of calamity and in the coming days. Lord, you revealed that you are in total control of everything on this earth.

    God be the glory, Amen!!!

  • I agree with Michael Aguilar,.. ABS CBN news team should not insinuate that the Government do lapsed in their rescue and relief activities and then boast what they did instead… Haler! excuse me, the money they got also came from the people di ba? And besides, as a private sector na kumikita rin through the mamayan, responsibility din nila and tumulong sa mga Ondoy victims…. even without the hypocrite Kris, private sector would really help the flood victims cause they have that SOUL…

I think it’s really unfair if we’ll blame the National Government, we have seen them work,. I can’t even imagine if they could sleep well thinking about the safety of the flood victims.. I saw how tired Sec. teodoro was and also some of the cabinet members especially members of the Phil. Army who helped in the rescue operations..

  • I want to reiterate this to everybody… When typhoon Frank hit our province and our was greatly flooded, we never ever did blame anyone,. The delivery of relief goods were late and rescue efforts were not that overwhelming compared to what the volunteers and the government did during typhoon Ondoy… What we all did, we just helped each other and even thanked the President for the assistance.. Our local media did not bash the government cause every time they do that, the people especially the flood victims would text them, telling them to stop…

Why blame anyone? The disaster happened because mother nature cannot bear what we have done to her…. Please everyone open your eyes and let’s move protect our mother nature!

  • I hope that all the families that lost their homes and livelihood and everything would take home a fair share of the cash donations pouring in from here and abroad. They need to be relocated to safer areas.

  • condolence po s lhat ng mga tao na nawalan ng mahal sa buhay,,,,i felt sorry also to all people na affected ng bagyong ondoy…alam nating lahat qng gaano toh katirible….

saka bakit indi b naten naiisip n atyo mismo sa sarili naten ang malaki ang pagkukulang sa mother earth naten…. qng di ba naman ginawang basurahan ung mga water bodies n nkpaligid sa lugar nten di sana indi magclogs ung mga basura dun…..kaya ayusin n naten…pag indi ngbago….baka indi lang eto abutin ng lahat…….just my on opinion…..

  • thanks rose for agreeing with me

A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE

  • it is very unfortunate for our Filipino brothers to be hit by typhoon Ondoy. i have seen the massive flooding and the flood victims on TV and it is really horrible.

  • wag na kayung magulat, ang main aim lng ng channel 2 is to criticize the government, it’s an open secret. it’s still a fact that manugang ni erap ang isa sa mga lopezes, kya ganun tlaga, though i think hindi nakkialam si erap s binabalita nila. but they were never impartial, kaya nga ang motto nila is “panig s katotohanan,” since they can’t deny anymore na may pinapanigan sila. sbi nga ni korina, ok lng nman un dahil tao ka rin at mayron kang pinapanigan. as part of media, alam ko mali un.

when i saw them openly criticize the relief operations, grabe ako sa asar. tlagang ngiinsinuate silang mgalit ang tao eh. that is never ever a good thing. nkkondisyon ang tao msyado. i hve army relatives and nagngingitngit ako sa galit na binabastos lng ng reports ng dos ang militar at coast guard. ska na sila mamulitika pagkatapos nito!!! kaasar talaga! kung gusto nila interviewhin n lng nila ung mga politiko na nglaho s mainstream nung bumagyo, kung gusto nilang mamulitika…

this is a once in a lifetime disaster, no one’s prepared for this. so screw theem!

  • sa nagcricriticize sa abs-cbn…hello do you have the nerve to do that….without the help of the media madaming tao ang namamatay sa gutom ngaun…becoz of the media madaming tao ang natutulungan…aminin nyo that the government did not really do their job kahit di dahil sa unos na to….kung nagsisilbi lang sila ng maayos sa mga tao
there would be enough fund to buy ng mga rubber boat ung mga dapat ginagamit sa mga calamity tulad nito…saan napupunta ang pera ng mga mamamayan mahiya naman sila…ngaun nila ilabas ang serbisyong kaylangan ng mga tao..kundi sa mga pribadong sector wala silang mailabas na pera…panay kasi kurakot ang ginagawa nila at kanyakanyang hugas kamay…kung binabatikos man ng mga media ang mga taga gobyerno un ay para maging mulat ang mga tao sa nangyayari sa bayan….kung malinis ang consenya ng mga kamaganak nyong nanunungkulan di dapat kayo maapektuhan…bago kayo magcriticize kahit ano man ang intentions nila ang imporatante nakaktulong sila eh kayo may natutulong ba kayo….kaya magpasalamat kayo at may mga pribadong sektor na tumutulong nagpapkapuyat para sa mga nasalanta…DI YUNG PURO NA LANG DAKDAK NG DAKDAK ANG GINAGAWA NYO….tumingin kayo sa paligid nyong naghihikahos at magpasalamat sa mga taong nakaktulong sa mga apektado ng bagyo…malaki ang naitulong ng ABS-CBN,REDCROSS,GMA7 at lahat ng mga pribadong sector…mahiya naman kayo sa mga sinasabi nyo…buti meron silang naitutulong eh kayo…panay commento lang…maglikom nga kayo ng milyong milyong mga goods sa isang raw lang tignan ko ang mga galing nyo….

  • I’m from the Army. Upon receipt of orders, I immediately left my family to help the Typhoon Ondoy victims in Marikina. Some of our men who left their families died in line of duty while rescuing others. We did our best job to help. I’ve read so many negative comments about us but this will not demoralize us. Now that Typhoon Pepeng is on its way out, we are still standing by waiting orders for immediate deployment to extend again any kind of assistance even though the houses of some of our troops are still submerged in flood waters. We hope our countrymen will appreciate what your Armed Forces (which is also part of our gorvernment) is doing even with limited resources and capabilities. We will not be distracted by other people’s negative comments and we will just concentrate on our sworn duty because . . . we are your ARMY.

  • The Philippines is still in need of more donations for the victims of the 2 recent typhoons which hit the country the past 2 weekends.

An American Entrepreneur already offered help by giving away $50 each to chosen people in the Philippines who are personally extending help to their own relatives, family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers who are greatly affected by the strong storms. He even created a site that gave way for soliciting help around the globe. He has started the movement. Let us offer help in any way we can.

No amount is too little when it comes from the heart.

    Please visit:
http://nanoaid.org/papertiger/ for information on how you can help.

  • Just wondering if it is possible to get a list of things that appropriate to send to Philippines that will be helpful to the flood victims. Thanks – Mai

  • i agree with michael aguilar… You are very right sir! Media seems unfair,! And it is a very funny and definitely useless report showing how artistas helped in the relief operations for the victims of typhoon ondoy…

There are some things that actually keeps me wonder. Kris could sleep well, work well and think less about the safety of her family (during the flooding) but a rescuer let’s say from the Phil. Army sacrificing his life to save others while his family is also in danger. Now, who’s more worthy to be acknowledged by media?

A cabinet secretary who cannot fully sleep thinking how we could surpass this tragedy and a tv anchor who speaks mostly about government lapses,. Whom must we believe and thank for?

The working government which despite limited resources, facilities and manpower is doing everything to cater the needs of the flood and other calamity victims; and a TV network which only concentrate on the negative side of the government and making themselves a hero, whom should we consider sensitive?

It’s time for us to meditate and THINK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR OUR COUNTRY RATHER THAN WAIT AND EXPECT MORE WHAT OUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR US…

  • let’s continue to pray to save other lives and properties, and our government must do their duties and responsibilities to help all those victims.

  • abs-cbn; gma 7 all concerned networks, kris aquino and more other artist are really hero’s…goverment officials who do their jobs are also hero’s..people of the philippines who donated even the united nations are hero’s…so please let’s not criticize one another…lahat napagod lahat ngpuyat lahat ngdadasal..sino tayo para malaman ang saloobin at husgahan ang mga tumulong at nagdonate…we are doing our part.. so let’s stop criticizing one another…kasi wala naman tyong mapapala dun…nagkakasala lang tayo sa Diyos kasi were thinking different things sa mga taong tutuong bukal sa loob ang pagtulong….who are we to judge…WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE…lets just pray for those who are homeless…and those who lost their love ones…LET’S ALL PRAY THE ROSARY..it’s ROSARY MONTH…good day to all…

    MEDIA HAS THE POWER

  • good day everyone. i’d like to ask if anybody here knows of an announcement ever made re: no salary deduction for those people who were affected with the flooding…can someone enlighten me whether this is true or not.. as i a recall there was an announcement but then maybe i heard it wrong..my officemate has been gone for the entire week last due to the flooding. but said absence was deducted from his salary..

  • I will keep pray so that God can save other lives and properties, and our government must do their duties and responsibilities to help all those victims.
