wordpressandroidstats WordPress Ignores iPhone, Updates Android AppApparently the boys and girls at Automattic (the company behind WordPress) have secretly fallen in love with Google’s grandchild Android, and have blessed the WordPress Android app with several new features (all of them desired by their iBrother).

You can now view your blog’s stats right from your phone! Go to the fourth tab in the App, and check it out: You can see your page views, post views, referrers, search terms, and clicks — all in real time! There’s also an easy-to-read line chart for your page views[.]

Save time by moderating several comments at once with the new “bulk edit” feature. Simply click the checkbox next to the comments you want to moderate followed by the status button that you want to apply.

You can now create your posts with stylized text using the new visual editor! We’ve added new formatting buttons, including strikethrough and underline. (WordPress for Android Blog)

Filed as News with 1 comment

twitter earlybird 240x175 Twitter Spreads Deals With @EarlyBird AccountDell computers made a huge splash when they sold millions of dollars worth of product through their Twitter account and now Twitter themselves are getting in on the action, using @EarlyBird to spread deal love to followers.

The program is simple, Twitter allows advertisers to pitch their best deals, then Twitter picks the best deals, charges those advertisers to display their ads and sends the tweets to the account which can be tracked by visitors to the profile. Users who are following @EarlyBird will also see new ads in their timeline.

As the name would suggest, some deals are time-sensitive (early bird gets the worm), while other deals may be limited by supply. Twitter also warns that some terms may apply for certain offers. read more

Blogger Live Stats Vs WordPress Stats: Which Is Better?

bloggerwordpressstats 600x334 Blogger Live Stats Vs WordPress Stats: Which Is Better?

Despite being late to the analytics game, Blogger has recently unveiled live stats for BlogSpot fans in order to help their users attain a greater grasp of where their traffic is coming from.

Although some of you use Google Analytics or other third party tools to track your blog traffic, many of you have requested an easier-to-use, fully-integrated stats feature for Blogger. We heard that, and we are excited to announce that Blogger in Draft now has built-in stats. Just go to Blogger in Draft, and you’ll notice a new “Stats” tab. You don’t have to install or configure anything to start benefitting [sic] from Stats.

The coolest thing about the new Blogger Stats is that it monitors and analyzes your visitor traffic in near-real-time. You can see which posts are getting the most visits and which sites are sending traffic to your blog right now. (Blogger In Draft)

This latest feature should help put the world’s most popular blogging service on par with WordPress, who also boasts an internal stats service known as WordPress Stats.

Although both WordPress Stats and Blogger Stats have many similarities, there are a few key differences that separate the two services from each other (which might surprise users of both services). read more

seo Blogging SEO Tips (and pitfalls)This is a guest post from Eric Gesinski who works for Tulsa Marketing Online doing Tulsa Web design and Tulsa SEO.

Blog SEO Tips and Tricks Writing a blog is a major part of internet marketing. Writing one that helps a site’s SEO and traffic generation is a little bit trickier. Here are some blog SEO tips and tricks to increase both.

Core SEO Elements
When writing any blog entry, getting organic traffic requires good old fashioned SEO 101. This means writing proper title tags, description tags, and doing proper keyword research. Make sure whatever topic you pick, choose unique keywords to put into your title tag. Build the description tag in your post to target people who would want to read the material you are posting. And make sure you keep it all consistent and related – having a hot keyword-laden title tag that isn’t closely related to what your content is talking about will only make your readers mad. And if you happen to be using WordPress to write your blog, having a plugin such as the All in One SEO Pack can definitely help with these elements. read more

New Facebook Users Now Receiving Suggestions

Facebook Page Suggestions New Facebook Users Now Receiving SuggestionsIf you sign up for a new Facebook account as of today, you’ll notice a group of pages selected by Facebook, simply click on the “Like” option and your new account will become active with several liked pages.

The page suggestion section is found during the second step of the signup process, right after finding friends, leave me to believe that Facebook is going to be placing more emphasis on their pages option.

This process makes sense given the amount of publicity Facebook pages have been able to garner. Less me forget Betty White hosted SNL thanks to a Facebook page and the “Everybody Draw Mohammad Page” caused controversy around the world. read more

bloggerwordpressaudio 600x315 When Blogger And WordPress Trade Places (Audio Blogging?)

A long, long time ago in a place not so far away the Google overlords decided that it wasn’t enough that the BlogSpot faithful could upload text and images to their blogs. Something needed to be done to make their Blogger baby distinct from the masses.

So after much thought they unleashed their geek powers and created AudioBlogger, which allowed BlogSpot disciples to post audio clips from their phones upon their blogs for the low price of free.

Unfortunately the service became “too popular” and thus the Google overlords struck down AudioBlogger to the horror of podcasters everywhere.

Now it seems as if WordPress is helping making audio blogging popular again by introducing the service to their users for free. read more

Facebook Beta Testing Face Recognition Software

Filed as News with 4 comments

facial rec Facebook Beta Testing Face Recognition Software Tagging people is a great way to keep your friends connected to your Facebook photos, unfortunately it can also be a tedious process, a process Facebook is hoping to easily streamline by implementing face detection software.

Testing of the new technology has begun today with a select group of users.

If you’re unfamiliar with the current system you must upload a photo, click on each persons face, tag that person and then move onto the next photo. Obviously going back and tagging large photo albums can be a tedious process.

To solve the tedium of face detection the new program now determines each face and says “Whose face is this?” at which point the user just types in the persons name. read more
