Now General Motors has announced that the system will also soon be integrated with Facebook.

CNET is reporting that OnStar will reveal a new update that will allow drivers to connected to their Facebook profile, while translating voice messages into text.

According to Bloomberg the idea is to create a smartphone type experience by providing better “entertainment and information services.”

The announcement for the newly created OnStar system will be official on September 15th and OnStar President Chris Preuss promised CNET that the new system would be “better all around.”

If you’ll recall, back in January at CES, Ford unveiled a Twitter synced offering for their own Sync service, that Sync software will start arriving on Ford models in 2011.
