The new Twitter disappeared today for much of the Twitter visiting population, just over a week since it first appeared.
Users have always been able to revert to the old Twitter, which many have done, but it was the first time the option was not available, even upon request.
Just after the issue was first reported Twitter reps reached out, ensure users that the issue had been fixed and that the lack of New Twitter support was nothing more than an error on the company’s database.
According to Reps the company was performing database maintenance so “there may be brief periods of elevated errors.”
I wish Twitter would go with one system or the other, it’s hard to develop a nice Twitter landing page when you have some users on the old system and some on the new.

Design for the New One, everyone will have it eventually. Plus if you design for the new one, the design should still look fine for OldTwitter.

I completely agree with you Kyle, it’s just annoying that for the time being a lot of people are still seeing the old :)

if you’re bitching about the twitter web interface, you’re doing it wrong. there are a multitude of desktop apps that have been doing twitter better than twitter for a long time.
if you dont live in tweetdeck or hootsuite, you need to do a reboot.

Who was bitching? If you think EVERYONE is using a desktop app, you are obviously not attempting to Brand your company or image to all of the available demographics on the web which is a HUGE mistake.

There are definitely good reasons for businesses to interact with the Twitter client directly, so some will need to develop a good landing page and hope that these issues can be ironed out. I agree that it is difficult to manage under such conditions, and the old profile did allow for more space for branding and customization. I think, unfortunately, that many businesses are going to continue to use third-party clients for the short term, until these downtimes improve.
