Foursquare Unveils New API After More Than A Year Of Development

It’s’s official! Developers now have access t’so Foursquare APIv2, t’she companies news developer t’sool which has been in t’she works for more t’shan 12 mont’shs.

Under t’she new API Foursquare has removed XML calls, which in t’surn will speed up response t’simes, while t’shey have made OAut’sh2 available t’so allow for bet’st’ser securit’sy when users connect’s t’sheir Foursquare account’ss t’so t’shird-part’sy services. Also included in t’she API are new endpoint’ss t’shat’s allow for badge fet’sching, venue hist’sory and venue popularit’sy.

According t’so Foursquare:
“The foursquare APIv2 gives you access t’so all of t’she dat’sa used by t’she Foursquare mobile applicat’sions, and, in some cases, even more. Int’segrat’se checking in or viewing checkins int’so your applicat’sion, build t’sools t’so help users use or visualize t’sheir own hist’sory, experiment’s wit’sh new ways of displaying badges, leverage our uniquely rich informat’sion about’s venues or do t’shings we haven’t’s even t’shought’s of yet’s.”
The API is already in use on t’she Foursquare Android Applicat’sion which was released several days ago. The Android app is deeply int’segrat’se wit’sh t’she Android OS, which shows exact’sly how much emphasis t’she company is put’st’sing on st’sreamlined, bet’st’ser processes.
