Twitter’s Famous Bird Mascot Gets A Makeover

New Twitter Bird DesignTwitter on Wednesday rolled out a new design for its “little blue bird” the third such design overhaul for the Twitter bird since the social network launched.

Gone are the birds head feathers while the new logo sports pointier wings that are slanted upward. Regular Twitter users will also notice a slightly darker shade of blue filling in the birds body.

In a Twitter blog post creative director Doug Bowman wrote:

“Our new bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles — similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends.”

Bowman continues:

“Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.”
