ThemeForest Launches, Another Premium Template Marketplace

Another marketplace for site templates, WordPress themes, and whatnot launched today. ThemeForest is the latest site to roll out in the Envato (formerly Eden.cc) network, which contains sites like PSDTuts and Flash template marketplace FlashDen. Collis Ta’eed’s got a launch post up on Nettuts, another Envato site, and he also announces a launch competition in the ThemeForest blog.

Like all Envato sites, ThemeForest sports a good design, and the platform is known to work since it shares its backbone with FlashDen and AudioJungle. It’s a bit scarce for now though, with 53 site templates, 13 WordPress themes, and 3 Joomla themes as I’m writing this. That will surely change, however, as designers start offering their work through the marketplace. Revenue share rates can be found here. Stay tuned for an interview with Collis Ta’eed over at BloggerTalks tomorrow.

Duncan Riley Interviewed Over at BloggerTalks

The founder of The Blog Herald, one Duncan Riley, also known from TechCrunch, b5media, and his current project The Inquisitr, is interviewed over at BloggerTalks. The interview tackles his clash with Michael Arrington, how The Inquisitr was built on a premium WordPress theme, and his views on the development of The Blog Herald – this very site. That last one was asked by yours truly with some trepidation, I must confess.

Check out the interview if you’re interested in Duncan’s views on launching a site, tackling blogging with a personal life, and more.

Disclosure: I own BloggerTalks and did the interview.

Interview With Arvind on Movable Type and Why He Loves Itp

Arvind Satyanarayan is our Movable Type maven here at The Blog Herald, and the man behind the weekly Movable Type Mondays (the most recent one). He prefers Movable Type, obviously, and personally that’s I think it’s an interesting platform, now that it’s open source and all. Some things, like the Six Apart Services announcement for instance, have kept me from even giving it a serious go – I’m a WordPress junkie for now.

However, being curious is a good thing, so I figured I’d interview Arvind on the subject, and the interview is up now on BloggerTalks, sparking reactions in the comments already. I think you should check it out, it gives some perspective to the Movable Type community, as well as a lot of other things concerning Arvind, a great guy that swears to MT rather than WP.

Stay tuned for another Movable Type Monday next week, and every week.

Disclosure: I hired Arvind, I’m the editor of this site, and I’m editing BloggerTalks as well. I’m also doing a lot of WordPress designs, if you think that matters.
