Foursquare Loses Product Manager To Flipboard

Christen DuongFoursquare has lost product manager Christen Duong. After two years with the company she announced plans to move from New York City to San Francisco. Christen is making the move so she can join another starup, Flipboard.

Christen was a fast moving achiever for Foursquare, over her short time with the company she helped roll out a completely redesigned mobile app. She also helped role out the Explore tab for discovering new venues and helped in the development of contextual pages that show tips from friends alongside pictures they post.

Just as she did at Foursquare Duong will help Flipboard develop better content discovery methodologies for its various publishing partners.  read more

Flipboard Goes From 5 Million To 20 Million Users In 8 Months [Infographic]

Flipboard User BaseSocial news reading platform Flipboard is on a tear, adding 15 million new users to its platform over the last eight months. With 20 million users now reading stories on the mobile platform the company has managed to quadruple its user base in less than one year.

The platforms biggest advantage of late has been its massive expansion from an iPad only application to options for iPhone devices and in June the launch of Google Android smartphone support. The company has also launched region-specific content in China, France, Germany, Korea, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

Customers have also raved over the company’s new features including audio capabilities, Google+ access and premium content provided byThe New York Times. read more

Flipboard Partners with LinkedIn, Offers Better Performance On Every Level

Flipboard for iPadFlipboard on Thursday rolled out version 1.5 of their popular social news reading application for iPad and with that new release comes improved navigation, integration with LinkedIn and the ability to better share and find news.

Users of Flipboard can now explore as many feeds as they would like (instead of the former 21 feeds limit), while conducting cross-network searches on any subject the user chooses without using “complex” setup processes.

One very cool bit of integration is the ability to pull up a publications Twitter feed, explore what they have posted and then jump into those articles back in the flipboard app by clicking on Twitter URLs via the account: read more
