Technorati Looking for an Identity

technorati.jpgFormer blogosphere darling and Search Engine with capital S, Technorati, is looking to hire bloggers to feature original content on their site. In the midst of Twittorati and ad networks, this is a somewhat surprising move, since it means that the main Technorati site is moving even further from its search engine past.

I’d like to say that’s a shame but can’t really commit to that statement. The Technorati we once knew and actually used doesn’t fill a need anymore.

Obviously this is because of other search players in the blogosphere. It is tough enough to battle with Google, but they are joined by the likes of Twingly. All the while, Technorati haven’t been able to keep up with real time or anything, they should’ve been at the front. They must have other plans. read more

Skank Blogger Plans To Sue Google After Judge Ordered Google To Reveal Blogger’s Identity

rosemary-portIn a story line which couldn’t have been created better by Oscar Wilde, Rosemary Port, the author behind the ‘Skanks in NYC’ blog announced that she plans to sue the Californian search engine.

Ms. Port’s identity was revealed after Court ordered Google to identify the anonymous blogger earlier this week, when Liskula Cohen, her ‘skank’ victim, filed a $3m claim yesterday. Port’s name was in the court papers. Although Cohen has already dropped her $3m defamation case, former promoter Port hired lawyer Sal Strazzullo, who told the New York Post they will pursue Google with all legal options, because…

Exploring Social Media article series badgeIn “Five Tips for Composing a More Effective Social Networking Bio” by Maria Langer of Maria’s Guides, she asks if your social media bio is really saying what you want it to say and makes a good point:

Your bio is your primary way to tell people who don’t know you what you’re all about. If they’re heard about you from someone else or stumbled upon one of your Twitter tweets or Facebook wall posts, they might be interested in learning more. They might even want to become your . . . wait for it . . . friend.

…Think of your bio as bait on a fishing line. Who will it attract? But, at the same time, how many people will ultimately be disappointed by the mismatch between what your bio says about you and who you really are?

She includes some basic tips for creating a virtual biography such as be brief, accurate, meaningful, careful with word choice, and avoiding really personal and private information, but let’s take the picture you paint of yourself online in these various sharing outlets a step farther.
