We just passed 1 million mobile users across all platforms, which is not only a huge landmark for us, but for mobile blogging altogether. Cell phones are becoming our new personal computers, always with us and always ready when something needs blogging about. Now you need to ask yourself a very important question: can your blog successfully reach the unlimited number of potential visitors that are now using their mobiles to search online?

So about an hour (or two) ago, my PC encountered the infamous Blue Screen of Death, an event that was ironically triggered by iTunes having “heart attack” while syncing to my iPhone.
Normally when an event like this happens I break out into a geek sweat, moaning about all of the software I have to redownload and burning the midnight oil restoring backups from the cloud. read more
Squarespace has done a phenominal job in creating an official iPhone app for their users, one which may make Blogger guru’s and WordPress disciples jealous.
While it supports the basics of iBlogging (photo uploading, categories & tags, drafts, editing previous posts, etc.), the Squarespace app also boasts a few extra notable features that make it shine against it’s rival blogging apps. read more
Happy Monday, folks! It’s November, which means the release of Movable Type 5 is just around the corner. We should be seeing a release candidate build soon. Until then, let’s take a look at some plugins, themes, and cool tricks for the existing verison.
First, Mike T. from Code Monkey Ramblings has a new MT theme: Dark Marble. Based on a WordPress theme by the same name, Mike says he should have a version that supports the professional website templates soon.
Mike also has two new plugins. Comment Flag lets users report comments to you via email. The plugin uses jQuery so that the interaction is seamless for the user.
Mike’s other new plugin is Executable File Filter. It checks whether uploaded files are executable binaries or PHP scripts and renames them so they can’t be run. read more
It looks like another BlogSpot app has entered the scene, this time from TotoCaster of Georgia (the country, not the US state).
Called Blogium, this app gives BlogSpot fans the ability to not only upload images to their Google powered blog, but also delete unwelcome comments from within the app as well (which probably means bad news for trolls and spammers). read more
After purchasing an iPhone 3GS about a week ago, I was excited to see what new video blogging apps have emerged since the iPhone 3GS’s launch this summer.
While it seems like every twitter app from Twittelator Pro to Tweetie 2 is including video and/or audio (via third party hacks), a quick scan through the app store revealed a scarcity of video blogging apps–all of them by third party companies.
Thus far CellSpin and BlogPress are the only major video blogging apps out there, with the latter allowing you to post multiple video’s per post.
So my question is where are all of the video blogging apps? Can anyone explain?
While Google has already created official apps for a variety of services for the iPhone, they are anointing BlogPress to represent them in Steve Jobs backyard, and have even convinced the small team from China to create a lite version for free. read more
It looks as if Byline (a popular iPhone app for Google Reader) and BlogPress (the unofficial iPhone app for Blogger) are teaming up for the holidays by offering users the chance to download one of their respective apps for free after purchasing the other application on iTunes. read more
Although there are other iPhone apps that can connect with BlogSpot blogs (such as LifeCast, BlogWriter and iBlogger), BlogPress’s latest update may make it the strongest contender for the hearts of Blogger fans everywhere. read more
