Bing Moving Forward With Facebook Photo Search

Bing Social Search For Facebook PhotosBing has announced new improvements to its Facebook photos search function. The company is improving its user interface and adding support for a slideshow view.

Users who connect their Facebook accounts through Bing’s search service can use the Friends’ Photos feature to find their own photos and photos from their Facebook friends pages.

Bing launched its new Facebook photos search feature in August, adding to Bing’s Social Sidebar feature. The feature is integrated alongside Bing’s standard webpage search results.

Today’s improvements, much like Bing’s original setup, only feature photo returns when a user is friends with a Facebook.

Tumblr Announces Panoramic Picture Support With Simple Theme Integration

Tumblr Panoramic Photo views

Tumblr has announced panaromic photo support for all blogs located on its network. The new feature allows Tumblr users to share larger, more vibrant photos with very little additional work.

Now live on Tumblr.com the new panoramic photos appear in a specialized lightbox.

The panoramic shots fill the entire width of each blog post, as opposed to regular photos which typically occupy only the left-hand side. Users on desktop web browsers can also scroll through a pictures panoramic view from side to side once it is enlarged.

Smartphone users should turn their phone sideways to take full advantage of the new Tumblr support for panoramic photos. read more

Thanksgiving 2012 - Instagrams Biggest Day Ever

 

Pictures of turkeys, Thanksgiving feasts, football, family members and other shots dominated the web on Thanksgiving day and millions of those photos were posted to thepopular social photo website Instagram.

The photo platform which currently claims more than 100 million Google Android and Apple iOS smartphone and tablet users to its name literally saw millions of Thanksgiving Day 2012 posts.

According to the company it received more than 10 million Thanksgiving photos to various holiday themed hashtags. The biggest tags were #turkey and #thanksgiving. read more

In their showcase the company’s learned that videos are shared 12 times more than posts that simply feature links and text. Not surprising since users tend to be more invested in videos which take longer to watch and typically provide a good amount of eye candy or context.
