By now, WordPress 2.7 has been released on WordPress.com. The full version should be released by December 10. We’ve lots of WordPress 2.7 version news. WordPress Theme and Plugin authors need to update and ensure they are listed on the compatibility pages on the Codex. Hang on, we’ve got lots of WordPress news.
Things You Need to Know About WordPress 2.7: WordPress.com now features a Countdown to WordPress 2.7 on blogger’s Administration Panels. It is clicking off the time until WordPress 2.7 hits WordPress.com blogs.
In the announcement that WordPress 2.7 will arrive on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 8PM Eastern Time in the United States on WordPress.com blogs, you will find all the tips and information you need to handle the transition to the new version of WordPress. Ryan Boren explained that WordPress.com users have been using WordPress 2.7 for a while without the new Administration Panel interface, which is due to arrive today.
Full Version of WordPress 2.7 Due December 10: In response to the Blog Herald announcement, Jane Wells confirms that the full version of WordPress 2.7 will be released December 10, though it could be sooner if testing on WordPress.com goes well. read more

WordPress 2.7 is at beta version 3 and the first Release Candidate is due any moment. I’ve collected tons of articles covering the next release of WordPress, expected to be one of the most exciting ever. WordCamp Australia is this weekend. Old versions of WordPress continue to be hacked, so please upgrade and not wait for WordPress 2.7. Be warned that if you are using WordPress 2.6.4, it could be fake. And more WordPress news.
WordPress 2.7 Development News: WordPress 2.7 Beta 3 fixed a lot of styles and design elements for the new interface, integrating 144 commits since beta 2. This version also includes an update for the first WordPress Plugin, “Hello Dolly.” The media upload buttons now have an “if available” option. They won’t show unless the ability to upload is available. QuickPress now features “Submit for Review” if the contributor can’t publish posts directly. They’ve added an API to the Administration Panels to make adding screen options easier. The Release Candidate One should be available any time now in final preparation for release by the end of the month if all continues on its right track. WordPress.com and WordPressMU will have WordPress 2.7 fully integrated a couple weeks later.
Jacob Santos has written “10 WordPress Features You’ll Never Care About”, a great list of some of the invisible features that helps make WordPress 2.7 even better, even if you can’t see or ever use them.
The WordPress 2.7: Project Icon for WordPress 2.7 is done and the winners are Ben Dunkle and Verena Segert. The two icon sets will be incorporated after some final adjustments into RC1.

Testers Wanted for New WordPress iPhone Version: The WordPress for iPhone blog is requesting help testing the next version of their application. New features include landscape mode with an extra wide keyboard, link creation help, support for creating and editing Pages, comment moderation, asynchronous publishing, and photo resizing options.

WordPress 2.7 is at beta version 2 and a ton of work has been done on it, though the official release is now delayed until the end of November. Please upgrade WordPress 2.6. A lot of news about WordPress 2.7 is out, including what you need to know to prepare your blog for the upcoming release. WordPress Plugin and Theme authors are scurrying to update their work accordingly. A fake WordPress.org site is spreading bad WordPress versions – be alert! WordPress opens a new showcase to show off what WordPress can do. A ton of WordCamps are coming up in the next few weeks, and into 2009, including a traveling WordCamp for educators and a skiing, wintry WordCamp in Canada. And more WordPress news.
WordPress 2.7 Development: The original release date of November 10 has been pushed back by at least two weeks, though may change as beta testing continues. Two beta versions of WordPress have been released, with WordPress 2.7 Beta 2 fixing a lot of the bugs found in Beta 1. At the time of writing this, the WordPress Development Twitter had 149 changes and fixes reported over the past week. Improvements have been made to localization, the Write Post Panel, design problems for Internet Explorer, rewrite rules for various servers and hosts, and the WordPress Plugin update and install feature. More improvements, fixes, and design features are in process for the next beta release. The new interface is being cheered and readily accepted by testers and many are loving the new Comments and Write Post Panels. The ease of blogging and information on the new Dashboard Panel makes that screen more valuable than ever.
Your feedback and input is critical. Jane Wells asks “What’s your favorite thing about the 2.7 Beta?” to encourage your feedback. WordPress 2.7 Wireframes: Jane Wells revealed the WordPress 2.7 Wireframes, the graphic draft versions being tested for the development of the new WordPress 2.7 and future version Administration Panels and interface. A work-in-process, the PDF files are going around the web and serve as guides not final versions of the interface. These are constantly in fluctuation as testing and updates are ongoing.
WordPress Theme Changes in WordPress 2.7 Comments: Otto of Ottodestruct covers the changes in WordPress 2.7 comments that may impact some WordPress Themes. While older WordPress Themes will continue to work but WordPress 2.7 includes some new features WordPress Theme designers need to know. They include creating a WordPress 2.7 compatible
comments.php template file, changes in the comments loop, password protection checks, AJAX, and style changes. Some of the improvements and features explained are subject to change as WordPress 2.7 nears release.

WordPress 2.7 features are now announced and set. Weblog Tools Collection announced their WordPress Plugin Contest winners. WordPress wants your input on the the new WordPress 2.7 interface. Smashing Magazine toasts WordPress development resources. And there are so many WordCamps, you can plan vacations around them. Why not?
What’s Really Going to be in WordPress 2.7? No more beating around the bush. Ryan Boren has pulled the curtain off WordPress 2.7 features to prepare us all for the upcoming release. They include the new “crazyhorse” WordPress Administration Panels interface, a new Write Post Panel that allows dragging and dropping of meta boxes so you can rearrange your writing surface, the ability to hide columns on the content index pages, inline editing of posts and Pages on the new content index pages, comments XMLRPC API, sticky posts, automatic WordPress Plugin installation and integrated Plugin browser, HTTPOnly auth cookies, and much more.
The MOST exciting features are the ability to automatically upgrade WordPress and the total revamping of the Comments Panel to include replying to comments, keyboard shortcuts (hot keys) for managing comments, and threaded comments to help you keep track of the conversation.
Expect an announcement any day on the Development Updates and other WordPress development sources that major testing of these core features will commence as WordPress developers move closer to the release candidates (alpha versions).

Weblog Tools Collection hosted a WordPress plugin competition, and the winner is WP Comment Remix from Pressography. The grand prize is $2,000 and some other nice stuff.
